haha, that's hilarious! it's so true that after the mad blitz of the last 48 hours, my energy to shoot wax is low ... had a blast in NY - 2 days of mad gripping, saw a great film, saw the Sonics reunion at Cavestomp Friday night, saw a Rangers vs Devils OT thriller from incredible seats, drank massive Saporros while Chairman Mao, Jared B, Mr. Fine Wine, and Dante C played some of the illest dance floor sounds imaginable. Extra props for Impressions "We're a Winner" in the mix, didn't catch who dropped that one, but wondered if it was a Drew Nice request. Shook hands with mad Struttiers/Waxidermistes but didn't get to hang too much due to the mad schedule. Mike B was definitely in the house though, along with Coffin Joe, JP, Drew, and a gang of other heads I met or recognized. Dropped mad money but stacked up some damn fine records, especially some real nice copies of some serious wants.
Daylight savings time fucked up my return! Had a 3:15AM train, showed up thinking it was quarter of 3, but it was only quarter of 2 and I was FADED had to lay around Penn Station for 90 minutes barely conscious ... big shout to Pete Gunn for buying drinks and having my back at Madison Square Garden, as well as pulling out the surprise pre-game trees .
I'll post up finds later tonight, I'm gonna start listening to stuff so that's when the photo session can go down.
Oh, and my David Crosby tee was good for a laugh, getting some people bummed out and others were into it, but caught like 20 random comments not just at FMU but all over the streets of NYC. Good times.
I spent WAY too much money on records, acted a fool in good for a few hours with strutters, got semi-contiously drunk, danced with this girl and her fat friend while watching drew and mike shoot game. I'm sure Jonny's got some pics. soulstrut was repping BIG.
t, was gonna roll through good on friday, but had to haul ass to make the chinatown bus. lets see some pics!!!! i got a couple records to floss...but my wallet was LIIIIIGHT on the way home.
allright fuckos...everyone else too tired? boohisss. i want see pron
guess which one i dropped lot of money on? (ikeyc wasnt cheap either)
this lot cost me about $40. definitely a couple dollar bin miracles.
also had a copy of african headcharge from coffinjoe, that i had to trade to enable another important purchase.
my first transaction of the day was in tompkins square park. i saw a chick with a nice bike, sporting 3 baskets. i told her the shit was thorough and she leveled an equally complimentary remark at my bike. after a couple test spins, we traded bikes.
great show. went all three days, but sunday seriously lagged. my hesitation on the nico gomez proved fatal. saw a lot of other heavies go right before my eyes, except for that weldon irvine which i was happy to snag.
after i got smoked up (thank you again, soulstrut) i started chilling at tables and listening to things and taking chances on weird shit. David was sealed and dude had $75 on it...i was feeling the vibes exuding from the front and back (yes, i was high) and i tried to see if the dealer knew anything about it. nope. so i bought a couple other fivers (all the other rock...minus dollar bin dubarri) and got it for $40...something i probably wouldnt have done sober!!! but i'm happy. something new to listen to.
when i'm lifted around intereting looking dollar bins, i usually bring home some REAL dumb shit (and usually a keeper or two)
yeah man this show was dope. First time i was ever there. I got there around 5 on sat night and it was bumping. Didnt recognize any strutters but i was only there for a little while and dont know any of you fools by sight anyhow.
maru, killllin it! i took a little gasp for air when i read "weldon irvine"....i pictured you going all out and laying out 500 for the time capsule someone had on display.
ike turner and affinity!! classic combo!! haha...had em in my hands for a second.
dust yourself is a surprsingly elusive record. ive had it 3 times in a decade and a half.
whats those to the right of eddie gale and to the left of shakara?
looks like you got a LOT of good listening ahead of you.
jackie mittoo? I just copped that from paycheeks a few weeks back and its such a solid record.
yeah, got it real cheap from cofinjojo, but the part of the cover yo usee is all there is to see...purposefully covered up. still...nice record! took a nice long get-rid-of-digger-dust shower and listened to side-A
and from an other thread, heres the strutters i saw on friday:
i was there all day yesterday and had a ball saw a lot of my ol convention buddies and saw a bushel of strutters coffin joe...patron saint of record shows drewnice...on the dealer pass switcherroo mikefreedomrock...good to meet ya! aleit...cookin beef and keepin cool johhnypaycheco...grumblin about "i dont get elbowed lookin at collections" maru...raer hunting d.carfagna...who played me out with his nutsack garcia vega (for just a brief second) dakar...looking for 18 cent records josh salma hayek...doin his thing le toupt...with the mp3 raer dolo young...senator craigin-it in the restrooms i know i bumped into some other heads

thats all
that God Squad shit on Rare Earth is one of my favs. just dope to listen to.
Hit up the Dolphin Bong table first thing Saturday AM and got the Ron Elliot, which I've been on the make for, plus a couple other stoner joints. Bettye Swann YES PLAESE. Hearts & Flowers another longtime want, although not the greatest copy.
Os Caculus is a later press, but the Tropicalia is a super clean OG. Tons of Brazilian heat to be had. Although the two things I was ready to drop $$$ on, Quem et Quem or some Toni Tornado, didn't turn up. The reggae joints are pretty flacked, but were cheap OG's and I feel like I'm conditioned to listen to noisy reggae records, so it's all good to me.
I didn't pull any dollar-bin miracles at the show, but anything I paid well for I got hi-grade copies. The Millenium and Fifty Foot Hose are near-perfect, and I was glad to pay well for keepers - but still got a few good deals, that Billy Butler is a real nice copy, I felt $40 was more than fair. I never feel ripped-off at FMU (although people try) but just rarely find some amazing bargain. I'm not in dollar bins much, though - unless it's 45's.
I got about 40-50 of those. I'll take some flicks when I play 'em.

nah i saw the time capsule and thought $500 was a pretty fair price. that would have pretty much knocked me out for the rest of the weekend though.
benn wanting the ike and affinity for a while, i think i'm going to have to mint up in the future though.
records in question are som nosso de cada dia(brazilian psych) and francoise hardy lp

East Of Underground
Ray Alexander Technique (sealed)
Gentle Rain "Moody"

Pay the cost, be the boss, etc etc etc
maybe you should have sponsored someone?
those baskets are the perfect size for both toto and nico gomez ritual.
can we get a photo of the bike w/ 7 minutes of funk posing?
I wish I had the time to make it down. Spring show for sure this year. I have discretionary income burning a hole in my pocket.
BTW: I need a copy of that Ray Alexander. Who's holding?
I don't think the odorous one could even show his face at this event...
i was there w/ my rosemary scents, what are you talking about?????
