I heartily suggest to each and every one of you to go to your local Police Station and ask if you can go out and ride one shift with an officer. Most departments have this type of program and I've done it twice.
It may give you a different perspective and appreciation of their everyday job and what it takes to do it well.

Not giving you heat, but kinda disagree: NYPD had/has this big push to hire people from the community so there are familiar faces in their districts/jurisdiction. After 5 years of living in Bed-Stuy and Crown Heights I've come to the conclusion that if you hire cops from the ghetto, you're gonna have ghetto-ass cops.

I think this statement goes for much of the developing world.
US cops can be brutal and racist, but in much of the world the type of behavior displayed in that video clip would hardly elicit a response from the average citizen.

Cops feel like they can get away with anything, and unfortunately, time and again we see they usually can. Anytime a cop takes a fall for doing dirt I think it's great - cause maybe, just maybe, the next cop will think twice about abusing his authority, and show a little restraint.
