Dude had a press pass or something around his neck. Cameraman was talking some "free press" stuff. I think I counted about 30 cops on that scene.

    Awful.

straight up. BUT JUST THE FUCKED UP ONES. Personally I won't make some blanket statement and say fuck 'em all because even though I hate to admit it, there's a lot of good ones out there.

true indeed. When they have a bad fuckin day they need to let you feel that shit. My wife and I ran two seperate issues go down with nasty as hell woman P.o.'s. There really needs to be some detailed new recruit program. Motherfuckers just need to wave their power around. I may get heat back for this but officers of the people they are definatley not.

Where's Rockadelic. I thought he would be doing his usual apologist schtick.

  • I'm not knocking police, because god bless the GOOD ones.

But the worst part about the guys in the video, is NOTHING is gonna happen to these guys. I hope this blows up. At least it's not racial anymore. That guy got beat and shoved by blacks, whites, and Italians (i think).

Dudes that do that should lose their job on the spot and get assault charges filed against them.

You'll never see me apologize for a scumbag cop....but I believe the GREAT MAJORITY of them are not scumbags.

Police seem to be thrown into one big box with a giant Fuck You

I heartily suggest to each and every one of you to go to your local Police Station and ask if you can go out and ride one shift with an officer. Most departments have this type of program and I've done it twice.

It may give you a different perspective and appreciation of their everyday job and what it takes to do it well.

I'm suprised no one started a thread saying "Thank Tha Police" for the UK cops who apparently just prevented a terror attack.

If you dudes think that was harsh there's no way you could handle what happens here in JA.

Not giving you heat, but kinda disagree: NYPD had/has this big push to hire people from the community so there are familiar faces in their districts/jurisdiction. After 5 years of living in Bed-Stuy and Crown Heights I've come to the conclusion that if you hire cops from the ghetto, you're gonna have ghetto-ass cops.

I think this statement goes for much of the developing world.

US cops can be brutal and racist, but in much of the world the type of behavior displayed in that video clip would hardly elicit a response from the average citizen.

Which is, of course, no reason whatsoever not to raise hell about it.

I was taught that if a Cop tells you to move, you move.

My Dad told me if I didn't there would be consequences.

(When he was a teen it was a billy club to the knee)

Only to be surpassed by the consequences I'd face once I got home if my Dad found out I disobeyed a Cop.

There are only three things you say to a cop:

    1. Yes, Sir.

    2. No, Sir.

    3. It wont happen again, Sir.

    *************

and as i've had my sorry ass thrown in jail twice, I've never had my head knocked in, so ... mixed results.

Right, but if you are a member of the press,
and you feel your Constitutional right to report
on police activites is being violently suppressed,
you might feel the need to stand up for yourself.

I don't see the big deal here. Obey the cops or get beat--seems pretty straight forward to me.

And the cops shouldn't be surprised if they get
their constitutional asses sued. I'm not naive,
I've had plenty of run-ins with cops where the
BIll of Rights wasn't really coming into play,
and it was walk away son or get your head kicked
in and the weekend in jail - but I'm also not a
member of the press and I wasn't holding a video
camera. Cops feel like they can get away with anything,
and unfortunately, time and again we see they usually
can. Anytime a cop takes a fall for doing dirt I think
it's great - cause maybe, just maybe, the next cop
will think twice about abusing his authority, and
    show a little restraint.

so a member of the press with a camera is imune from having to take direction from the police. what fringe benefits, i should have become a reporter. Can they park in front of hydrants too?
