Saying. Dudes like SOI and Karlophone always come correct with pictures and descriptions of what they find...bought a copy of that "Game" S/T record after the discussion on here about it. The vast majority of posts are really good, all I'm saying is that I definately appreciate it when people talk about the records they find instead of just flossing them and assuming that everyone has a mental database of what every record they post a picture of sounds like.
I personally like them (weekend finds posts), and I especially appreciate the the enthusiasm of people like SOI and Karlophone, etc... but the general vibe gets lamer each year. The concern about "what is this record worth? What is with the whole "$2.25 each" "$40 for the stack" "everything was 50 cents except for the stuff with the orange tags" or whatever?? I mean, is it too hard to write "I got a good deal"? Does ANYONE care what people on here are paying for their records? And if so, do they have problems that records cannot cure?

I agree to a point, but sometimes you can't help but brag mention that, yes, that Mike James Kirland album was only $1 at the Stop-n-Grip ...
I can understand in special circumstances... but I don't care if someone paid 59 cents for a private issue soul LP from 1985.... I mean, that is not particularly important to me.... I would much rather hear about its contents than how much it cost.

There's a general perception that weekend finds means records you rescued from an underground storage facility at 5 AM, dug up out of a pile of cow testicles while being chased by angry crust-rock collectors yielding torches. I want to see those records that strutters are paying real money for as well, the pricey ones that are actually worth spending a lot on.
I like seeing what others buy in the weekend finds thread, I also like to post up what I buy. There have been a bunch of times where I have learnt some info about stuff I have bought when people have PM'd me regarding a record I have posted in the finds. I most definitely don't get to listen to things before I post them, but hell, I've got things I bought 3 years ago that I still haven't heard yet. If I go out & buy 100 45s on a sunday morning there is no way in hell I will be able to listen to them before I post in the finds thread that afternoon. Finds threads are one of my fave things to read. They are interesting.
It all boils down to displaying what records are turning up in the field. I don't see a problem with it. Its RR (and thats what this site is all about) and even if the next man finds an original Skull Snaps LP for 25 cents, its gives me hope that good records can still be found.
I just find that if you are known as a record seller then everyone jumps up with the kung fu gripp anytime you post something. That shit makes me not want to post finds.
We all should have these problems, finding too many good records that tons of people wanna buy.
My tactic is to accumulate some 50 dollar records on ebay, mix it in with my 10 dollar soul records that I purchased at a real shop, and try to hold my own against the heavyweights.
As someone else mentioned, I've been exposed to so much more music this way.

guilty as charged - in some cases. if i dont take pics right when the stuff comes in the door, they get all mixed up with other stuff. but that doesnt mean i dont know whats on a record - i did buy it for a reason. (though... if that reason was "this is cheap and cool looking", in those cases, im definitely guilty of the "blind find-n-post". which probably accounts for some of the more "wtf is wrong with that guy that record blows" records in my posts). but whatever, its all for fun.
its sad - does anyone else never have enough time to actually listen to all the new records they find? ive got a 6 foot stack of records i havent listened to yet, or only listened to one song, and the pile slowly mutates as new stuff comes in/gets listened to. Plus these tend to be the best stuff i find, as i dont want to listen to it while distracted with work or what not, so they sit waiting for a "good time" to listen with no distractions. which happens like, hardly. Then theres all the records, cds and downloaded stuff, mixes etc you already have kicking around... how about time for a nice repeat listen, to like, anything??? So, that is what my car has turned into - the "music i know i like" enjoyment area.
