Ive got an old gt backwoods mountain bike id like to convert to ride the roads around l.a. is this possible?

    Sure, in order of importance:

    - replace nobbly tires with slicks & pump them up at at a gas station once a week
    - have the bike serviced regularly, if your chain, cluster &/or chain rings are poked (i.e. slip often or feel 'tired') you'll never have an enjoyable (fast) ride
    - replace your front forks suspension with rigid forks (no essential but will make a bit of difference)

I've got a jet-black 'n' chrome Triumph cruiser from the 50s or 60s. Simple and beautiful.

Just picked this up off Craigslist a couple weeks ago. Gonna get the treatment that the Black GT Freestyler got (but won't be as clean).

Converted Schwinn Le Tour III. Single Speed/Fixed. Heavy, but fun, and it gets the most riding. Thanks to SoulonIce for the recommendation!!

Murray Cruiser. Raleigh (the dog) loves it, and it's laid back for the pregnant wifey.

Specialized Stumpjumper M2. Bought it new in Santa Monica. Used to have a lot of fun in Big Bear. (I don't have a clear pic of my actual one. This was taken from the web.)

all my BMX frames were old school ones bought out
of want ads. Mid-90's I was always buying 80's frames and
building them up with retro parts. There were a couple of
awesome spots near me that had boxes of new old stock parts,
crazy mags and OG triple traps and shit. BMX is definitely something
I miss, but I only rode street and by 30 years old it just doesn't
work unless you are doing it for sponsors ... or are independently wealthy.

My last frame was a Free Agent Limo, nice stretched-out tubing
and tight in the dropouts - you lean back slightly and find yourself
in a mnual for three blocks without trying.
