McKinley Morganfield A.K.A. Muddy Waters
and I am enjoying it very much.
fucking straight up
I love Jimmy Witherspoon, plus a killer lineup (Gildo Mahones, Kenny Burrell, Eddie Khan, Roy Haynes).
"My Baby's Sweeter" has a bassline unlike anything I've encoutered in blues music (though I'm no sort of expert)
Freddie King - Texas Cannonball (Shelter, 1972)
More blues-rock with some real funky cuts, has Duck Dunn & Al Jackson on a few tracks. Leon Russell produced. Back cover has an armadillo busting out of a giant egg.
its alright i guess. acoustic country blues, nothing hot fire burning heat blues
Just another Clapton wannabe rip-off.
My most recent blues LP bought was "Blue Memphis"
by Memphis Slim on Warner Bros. - a 1970 session
recorded in London with Peter Green, John Paul Jones, etc ...
It's not bad.
on Little Walter
I've just picked up one of my FAVOURITE records ever *full stop* on 45, Little Walters 'Crazy Mixed Up World'.
Its just pre-funk funky. Great lyrics, great playing. When that harp solo comes in, it gives me the shivers. Beautiful.
Can't find a scan, have a listen:
his stuff like "Crazy Legs" can move a dance floor for sure...throw it in with a little Slim Harpo, George "Wild Child" Butler...juke joint y'all!
