in what seems like some kinda spring cleaning fever, several collections have
presented themselves to me for plucking in the last few days. so ive been plucking.

^^Swallow turned out to be stinky despite the cool cover. Bent Wind 'Sussex' is the 1000 copy reish from the early 90's (no eazy pull itself now)

^^i love this. it must go on the wall somewhere.

^^thats the same gale garnett as the Gentle Reign records. what a husky voiced folk seductress.

^^a couple years back i got about 200 nice older blues records, the same source
just offered me a few more from that collection, held back till now i guess.

^^ chiffons and richie arent fire in the strut sense but certainly are in the "old
rock n roll" sense. Been seeking the Johnny Watson forever.

Troys a total pimp. the other cover (tucked behind that one) is hilarious - theyre standing in a garden, and they all look uncomfortable. Its like the photographer said: "Okay, stand in this garden. now, look confused. *click* Great! Were done!"

That Randy Weston/Art Blakey looks real. What's it like?

That's a really nice session that is pretty tough to find in it's original form, it's widely available as a 70s/80s Prestige double LP repress under the same name but with a different cover. You can ususally find that one for under $10. I would love to find that original cover.

highlights from last couple of weekends of digging at fleas and thrifts that i never got to post--i will post the stuff from this past weekend soon--it is pretty overwhelming though

above photo includes sealed og rusty p & sure shot three, sealed live band on tsob, big l (got a couple of other big ls), and there is a moder turd gift of dreams 12" which i immediately put up and sold already for $$$$$ while the getting is good, also a private press moder boogie funk record from a frederick.

private loner folk psych from a guy going under name of freeenterprise

voices supreme is a soulful/gospel funk record with some really nice breaks in there as well. 12"s from stestasonic, norma jean wright, tribe, pretty tony, starr's computer band, etc.

boogaloo from johnny zamot on 45. minty promo copy. just found that one at a thrift yesterday.

First of all, big ups to all the strutters that came through at my record sale: kidinquisitive, ticktickler, jjfad027, and especially my man who came all the way down from sin city, MalusAranea.

    and now...

the bottom single is "choke" by the masked demolition lover. WOW!

I'm straight up cut-and-pasting from waxidermy, but here were my weekend finds.

There was the bi-annual Edmonton Pop-Culture Fair (Read, gripper shred fest) and I found a few ok things.

I picked up the abdul because it was cheap ($15). I didn't think I'd like it that much but I think it may be a keeper. There are a few songs on here that are really deep and mellow. I don't like when he goes wild with the freak-out, but when he is plucking and strumming the cello and being mellow it is totally awesome.

If anyone wants that Music Inc it's available for trade/sell and it's a clean copy. The Muriel Anderson jeremy posted about on waxidermy.com so I e-mailed her and it took her like 2 months to send her record and I had to pay $30 or $40 for it. Great record though. I wish there were more songs of her singing. I thought I'd like Link Wray a lot more but I don't. It will find a new home with a friend.

These were cheap terds. I always wanted to hear that Rita MacNiel because it has such a great cover, but it's tepid to the max soft-rock. The times when it does sound good it's ruined by her voice. God that Dune is horrible, why was this record ever in demand? Someone take this out of my life for $5 please. Cool to see public enemies in Edmonton for cheap, instead of grippers wanting $30 for any rap record.

Some highlights of the past couple of weeks:

Mephistopheles was better than expected - pretty solid melodic psych.

Excuse the lens flare. Cat paws were also unwanted but I lost the battle.
Condello is absurdly slept-on and superb 1968 psych album that I learned about
backwards, researching the band Last Friday's Fire on LHI that came after
this LP, featuring the same Condello. Got it on eBayUK for $4.99 GBP with
no other bidders, totally clean copy. Go figure. Was pretty charged to find
the Ocho, NM OG in the shrink for $10, at a local spot voted "worst record
store in Boston" by a number of headz on here.

    Some lil' ones:

Stuart Paine is some ungoogleable shit that looks privately released
... I traced it to Kentucky, and am trying to get some more info on it.
    Not a total face-melter, but a cool 2-sider, one an Animals-style bluesy
pop track that has crazed loud guitar distortion on 2 solos and the fade,
the other side an over-the-top hammond-band track with vocal, Stuart really
letting it all out. Bought blind on eBay for $5 with a bunch of other cheap
singles, including the Lonnie Duvall on Hip, which is 2 solid sides of edgy
pop on the Stax rock subsidiary.

Check for that Condello real soon at
