    I like 1972!!! Runner ups would be the 1966-1970 period. 1971 was no punk either!!!

    1981 (the cusp of the classic Moder sound)

Although there are some rockish acts I would have included (Commander Cody, Big Star, T. Rex, Mott the Hoople), the fact remains that R&B was kicking ass and stomping dick all over the place in 1972. Don't even get me started on the singles.
