the "????" are records I sold before writing them down. DOH!
Hey, can anybody remind me what that drumbeat is that comes in at about 4:35 on track 8 of that P-Brothers Zulu Beat mix? I hate when I can't recall what a beat is (and that's happening ever more frequently as i add on years ). HUGE on that Zulu Beat cd... what Islam did on WHBI back in the days can't really be duplicated, but the P Brothers did a great job of paying homage to what was argueably the best hip hop radio show of all time
No way... It's not Kane or Rakim, for sure, but he's competent lyrically and his vocals synch perfectly with the track... He forces it a bit on the 3rd bar of the 3rd verse, but other than that, he brings it...
I've always been a sucker for a MC spittin' over an open drum...
it is a very heavy mix... The P Brothers are pretty much the only UK producers that i will always pick up their records.. Has anyone got a spare copy of the Heavy Bronx Experience EP's volume 1 or 3?? i'm missing them.
Also, i heard ages ago that they were dropping their LP - "the Castle" soon.... anyone know owt about this??? After hearing the beats on that Cappo LP and the couple of recent singles i'm fiending for some more zulu drums.
The album was supposed to drop last april, don't know what's going on with it. Hopefully they're working it out with some good guest mc's and that's what's keeping them... If you'd feel like reupping that mix it would be very appreciated. Maybe on a site that stays alive a bit longer than yousendit?
I'll be happy to send my mix free of cost to the 10 first people to pm me about it... Starting now. I was gonna promote it here when it came out but the holidays kinda got on the way.
here's what's on it
1. Back To My Roots Intro 2. Sirocalot: Sirocalot 3. J.V.C. Force: Stylin' Lyrics 4. D.J. Ace & Daquan: Hard To The Core 5. Strictly Bizness: Call It What You Want 6. The Heartbeat Brothers: Time 2 Get Paid (Anonymous Remix) 7. Antoinette: I Got An Attitude (Anonymous Remix) 8. Too Fresh: Hitten' Harder 9. Priority One: I Can't Go For That 10. Lightnin Lee & Poppy P: Big Time Chillin 11. D.J. Scratch & G-O-D: The Party Is Jumpin 12. Kings Of Swing: Stop Jockin' James 13. Dr. Luv & Kev-Ski: Overdose 14. Aaron Dee & C-Nice: Disassemble The Beat 15. D. Moet & X-Calibur: Dance To The Excalibur 16. M.C. Sugar Ray & Stranger D: If It Ain't Rough It Ain't Right 17. T.D.S. Mob: Dope For The Folks 18. Live N' Effect Posse: We Got A Message In Our Music 19. J.V.C. Force: A Force Thing 20. D.J. Miz & M.C. Ludicrous: Trouble 21. Take 6: Spread Love (Anonymous Remix) 22. Bid Daddy Kane: Ain't No Half Steppin Marley Marl Remix
I've uploaded 'Zulu Beat' to my webspace to save people messing around with Yousendit. If anyone's got the 'Hear No Evil' mixes I'll be happy to host those too. It's not like you can buy them anymore.
zulu beat = heavy. the p bros did production for a nottingham crew called microdisiacs a few years back, the drums on that 12 would put a hole in yer chest!!!
ive never heard them...... upload an mp3?? has anyone got that "live hardcore worldwode" Cd they released with all the best bits from their 'heavy bronx experience' EP's?? i'm missing 1 and 3 of the EPs and want to hear the tracks i'm missing.

The one after the Roxy radio spot is Black Velvet's 'Tropicana'. Except it's not the 45 version or the library version. So presumably a re recorded version or a cover?

Damn, I thought I would know more than the Brahman + Sound Foundation...
After their drop they go into Can - A Spectacle.
Dope mix so far. Can't wait to check Hear No Evil Vol 3

Just got it in the mail today. Listening to it now, and it's sounding good. Thanks, Cardova!

Me too. Nice mix with good selection.
Hell yeah. I jammed this on the 1hr/10 mile snow drive this morning, and it kept my 5mph anxiety to a minimum. Love the reverberated Honeydrippers drums under that Antoinette.
that antoinette remix is just a little play on the impeach theme - instead of the original chopped up ones i used paul c's reverbated ones from do the james.
ill...I feel proud to say that out all of those, there was only 14 I hadn't ever heard, and it's possible that I might have as I used to get a lot of mixtapes and radio shows sent over from the US in the late 80's...

Great travelling-to-work mix on the iPod... Really good stuff.
Thanks for putting that track listing up.
