...deserves its own thread.I am interested in how regional biases are exposed. All rapp CDs now $1.50 ...how'd you do?What's not[/b] selling in Chicago?Anything from the Bay area, a lot from Houston.I was able to get releases fromTraeLil FlipMac Dre Keak Da SneakE-40Turf TalkI left happy.Curious if there is a Tower in the Bay, and if the oppositewould be true? i.e., no Bay rapp, but lots of leftover ATL rapp?

As for rap all we have left in the DC area are those Master P spin-offs, where every cover uses the 'diamond font' in what seems like 32 dpi.
I did see multiples of 'The Return of Dr. Octagon' (Pt 2.), anyone heard this?
I went to both the Wabash and the Clark locations on different days,
but it was really about the same deal as far as the rapp was concerned.
They have so many copies of these unknown gansta rappers and crew
compilations, that I think certain distributors at one point were
extremely optimistic about sales. It's kind of depressing to see.
But at $1.50 each you can buy a handful of randoms and probably end
up with something good you never would have heard otherwise.
Also : future rares? or future landfill fodder?
(remember Skullsnaps and RAMP was in the cutout bins in the 70's)

Okay, can we all agree on this statement:
Bay Area rappers have made too many CDs.
(Some of them are hott, many nott)
I assume your "we" includes an implicit exclusion of Archaic?
I was trying to get my foot in the door on those vinyl units. However everything was sold out, by the time i got there.
dammit. However I did pick up quite a few good books. Wish I could of done more but christmas has left me bankrupted.
Anyone need low maintenance freelance guitar work? Will rockstar for food.

Okay so I car-tested a Bay Rapp CD yestarday and I was fillmoe it
for the most part, though it did felt like listening to teenager rapp:
I was WAY into Turf Talk : Street Novelist when it came out, was recommending
it to anybody that asked about new rapp. But I think at least half my
excitement concerning that album was about Rick Rock's space-rapp beats.
Turf Talk + Rick Rock = future music
Turf Talk over regular beats = wacky rapp.
Does anyone else think he sounds like when black dudes imitate rednecks?
Like they don't end up sounding like authentic rednecks, but a new hybrid
you might find in Oklandahoma. Turf's got some good lines and some crazy
energy.
This is the thread where you talk about your firsthand experiences
with Tower rapp CD and display unit situtation.
Oliver's thread is where you critically review blog postings concerning
the situation.
Didn't TT used to ride in the Solano County annual rodeo?
I'm gonna drop by the Market St. one today...hopefully
Okay, now here's one I have only home-tested, not car-tested:
"Bullets, Blunts & A Big Bankroll"
Aaaaaaaaaaaand...I thought it was ass.
I remembered there was a cutt on Slump-n-Grind by the one Nickatina,
so I was like, what the hell, I'll buy his album for $1.50.
But man, the beats on this are pixillated baby schitt on a paper plate.
And the rapping...lacklustre. I was so underwhelmed I don't even know
if this gets a 2nd chance.
What are you... British?
Speaking of which, here are some bedroom beats I can unequivocally praise:
This is one of those projects where I think everything just came
together in the right way, at the right time. The disc cost me
$1.50 but is intrinsically worth about $85.00.
Sounds like it could have been recorded in an apartment complex over
the course of one weekend. No matter : it was theright apartment
complex, the right weekend, and most important, the right thizzed out rapp veteran, R.I.P.
gotta run------>>>>>>>>>>>>
I think it's possible that they tested out several duplexes in the greater Vacaville area until the right one was discovered...
when do the non rap cds drop to pennies?
Then you would be missing out on schitt like "All Star Chuck Taylors" and "Diamonds & Carrots"!
You mean despite encouraging everybody to purchase it when it dropped, you youself waited until the price had dropped to $1.50?
The boy ain't wit' bein' broke.
Oh, indeed.
That album is genius...so many great songs back to back to back.

I get promos.
I went down there this blustery afternoon and returned with a little over 20 discs:
Still, at a buck each that's not terrible. There was NO real schitt or mainstream stuff left at all.
I was going to cop a Frankie Beverley & Maze CD too but dude wanted 5 bucks just for that one ...I guess my price threshold is similar to Noz's .
