I suspect my dogs recent visit to the vet gave him fleas . Used flea shampoo, flea killing carpet powder, assortment of sprays with minimal susccess. A home and dog reeking of chemicals is so wrong.Any advice/experiences to permanently rid ourselves of these pest in a more sound and healthier way?

Give him a good bath, make sure you wet the head/neck area first...see if any fleas are floating around in the bath water. After he's dry give him a dose of FrontLine (it's not cheap but it works). Wash everything he's slept or laid on, vacuum etc. Fleas are parasites, so if you keep them off you and your dog you should be straight, it's not like they're going to infest your house like cockroaches or something.
