random 5:
saber AWR pretty much all the old NASA crew JE Twist and currently i'm digging Nesta in the east bay. especially that truck you see after going over the bridge..
rime has so many good pieces throughout newark and north jersey - he had this crazy piece on the highway leading up to holland tunnel that just got painted over a month or two ago. i was so bummed.
Also, this is a good thread. I'm not going to put my "top" writers up here because there's too many good/LEGENDARY writers to limit it to a top five. Saying "Top 5 Graffiti Writers" is akin to saying "Top 5 Musicians" and that's just much broad too broad parameters. Also, I don't have time to narrow it down to era and region, so I'm just going to name some names (no snitching) of mostly Philly dudes who made a mark on me.
Late seventies/early eighties - the era that I first started getting interested in writing: Clyde Estro Pez E-Z Mr. Blint Deadhead Credit Jay-Cee Razz Japan Kozmo Pap & Brez (my local neighborhood kings)
Mid to late eighties - the era in which I first actually started to get up... this is tougher than I thought, there's so many, so I'll just name a few: Cape Rasan Kadism Erx (my first "old head" who took me under his wing.) Denske (who busted out a little later but changed the game.)
My old crew: Espo Design 29 Meez
My current crew: Cense Kemos Enem Dasar June Cread Nope Speed
Out of towners: Skeme Seen Duster Zephyr Risk Slick Revok Saber Dream Reas Ghost JA Sace
All kings in their own right. Man, all this talk makes me want to go bombing. That's dangerous.
