Peja Stojakovic to the HornetsIt didn't take long for the opening of the free agent market to have an impact on the Pacers. On the day negotiations were allowed to begin, Peja Stojakovic has agreed to sign a reported five-year, $64-million contract with the New Orleans/Oklahoma City Hornets.???The Hornets intend to enter into a player contract with free agent Peja Stojakovic once the NBA-mandated moratorium ends on July 12,??? said Hornets General Manager Jeff Bower. ???Due to league rules we cannot comment further until that time.???StojakovicStojakovic averaged 19.5 points and 6.2 rebounds in 40 regular-season games after being acquired in a midseason trade for Ron Artest. He suffered e right knee injury in the playoffs, missing four of the six games in the first-round series against New Jersey.Stojakovic's agent, David Bauman, also confirmed the agreement to The Associated Press."The Hornets are setting their cap room aside for Peja, and Peja is taking himself off the market," Bauman said. "The nature of NBA free agency is such that the faster you move, the faster you get what you want."The Pacers had the ability to offer Stojakovic a six-year deal but Bauman told The Indianapolis Star the team's offer didn't compete with that of the Hornets. With Stojakovic headed back to the Western Conference, the Pacers have second-year player Danny Granger atop the depth chart at small forward. They bolstered the position in Wednesday's NBA Draft, using their first-round pick on Memphis' Shawne Williams and making a trade of second-round picks to acquire Cincinnati's James White. The Indianapolis Star reported the team would make a move to re-acquire forward Al Harrington from Atlanta in a sign-and-trade deal. Harrington spent his first six seasons with the Pacers. As a Pacers fan, I'm not sweatin this at all.Talk about off-season trades and rookie developments and rumours.

Mavs quickly re-signed JET, which tells me they will be making minimal moves in the offseason. Maybe a trade w/ Quise or Stack, sign one mid-level player, that'll probably be ti.
How much and for how long did they sign Terry for?
I believe it's 5 years 60 Mil
Doesn't this mean the Pacers traded away Ron Artest for nothing though?
I read from several sources that the Mavs were trying to trade Marquis Daniels in the draft to several teams but got not takers.
Yes, but it lowers the cap a whole lot.
Who are they looking to sign or are they just saving money?
Tim Thomas has signed on with the Clippers. They also re-inked Cassell.
OH SHIT, MY AVATAR BET SENTENCE ENDS TODAY!!!
There lookin to bring back Harrington from Atlanta. And we need to lock up Fred Jones.
Wasn't it Anthony Johnson who played swoll as they were being knocked out by Jersey? What has Jones been good for?
I believe it. Quise seems to stay in Avery's doghouse. Thing is, he's played so little since March...his trade value is low. I think they need to suck it up and find a way to work him in. He's a talent. He basically single-handedly kept Game Six against Miami from being a blow-out w/ his clutch play in the third quarter. I'm a fan of the guy. Stack could possibly be moved for a forward. I love our draft pick.
Anthony"MAGIK"Johnson sonned the whole Nets team and I think locked up the starting pg spot.Tinsley is still suspect after all this time. Jones has been an adequate backup/second string guard, and was responsible for sustaining the Pacers after "the Brawl".
Apparently this is true.....Avery is not a Marquis fan and I doubt he'll be here next year.....he's shown signs of being a player but always seems to fall victim of stretches of being "eat up with the dumb ass" as my pal from Alabama likes to say.
Arent u guys crowded in the back court as it is? Or do y'all need a pure point?
Need a good Point off the bench.....JET is really a #2 guard and Devin Harris hasn't proven he can play the point with consistency...I expect Adrian Griffin to be gone and Mo Ager isn't expected to do much in his first year.
True.
Agent Mark Bartelstein said Thursday that forward James Posey will wait until today's deadline to decide whether to opt out of the final year of his Heat contract.
Posey is due $6.4 million for next season, but apparently will angle for a longer-term deal with the Heat. In order to extend his contract beyond the coming season, the veteran sixth man must opt out by today and then wait until July 12 to re-sign. He would be a free agent in the interim.
Could Posey contribute somewhere or was his emergence an aberration and a Shaq factor?
Posey opts to stay another season
i love that move for the raptors. im not sure what the bucks are thinkin, with the NBA today, PGs are key, and now they have moe williams starting at point?????
I've liked Posey for a while. He played well in Memphis. Good role player. Plays D, doesn't really make any stupid moves, can shoot the three from a kick out. Can start or come off the bench given the talent on the team.
they did just draft two defensive-minded bigs though
And at this point I think they're really just trying to put themselves on the map. I honestly find myself forgetting that there's even an NBA team in N.O. Adding some familiar names will do a lot to re-establishing their presence in the league.
My point, exactly.
I know. It hurts me. Shinn is kind of a douche.
They're making some solid moves though, I agree.
If there is an NBA "offseason" thread, that must mean we need to get the NFL Thread jumpin.......
