And yeah, last night was weird. Rather wack on many levels. I did enjoy the convo b/t Tony and Phil in the hospital. I didn't need to see descent back into junkie-ness. So tired.
And hey, much as I like a hot Domincian, it makes NO sense why she'd be going out with AJ. None at all.
I'm surprised noone got whacked, isn't that the tradition in the Sopranaos season finales? I have a feeling though that trouble will brew in the final season between Tony and the nephew over the real estate agent... or maybe it'll be another plot device that will disappear and we'll never see Julianna again.
Who is this new little "irritant" guy w/ Phil. "Balls is looking a guy in the eye as you stab him in the lung with an icepick." To Tony as he leaves Phil's hospital..."We gotta quit meetin' like this?" That guy is going to be a problem.
The last episode rarely packs a super action punch or cliffhanger ending....the last ep is usually a come-down from the wild "next-to-last episode". I think last night's episode served as a bridge from the 11 that preceeded to the final 8. Settin' the final story arc up.
i was getting the feeling that julianna was with the feds. when they first show her and chris together, she gets up and goes "this place is a mess, im a pig." then they show her whole AA meeting and then her chats with her sponser in the supermarket to try and disprove this notion, maybe it can still happen though?
definately thought chris was a gonner after they were leaving the diner and he said he would take his own car, or was that a reflection of the end of their relationship?
i thought the episode was decent for an ending. wish someone got whacked, and didnt understand the "christmas" episode feel...
Why do people keep referring to this episode as "an ender"? It's a mid-season break but I don't think it was meant to resolve anything (and indeed, nothing is resolved) or do anything but advance a few storylines along and open up a few others (like AJ's relationship).
And I might have liked the episode better if not for Chrissy's whole "I'm descending back into becoming a junkie." "Again." "For the second time this season."
Sorry but that shit is played. Maybe I'm just annoyed b/c I've been reading "The Corner" and that makes the Sopranos portrayal of drug culture/addiction look like a "7th Heaven" episode.

My wife pointed out that just before he had Vito killed, Phillie literally "came out of the closet" that he was hiding in at the Hotel Room where Vito was offed.

Meaningful or a subtle joke??
Probably a little bit of both. Since Vito married one of Phil's relatives, it was he who took it the hardest when the news got around about Vito's homosexuality.
And I might have liked the episode better if not for Chrissy's whole "I'm descending back into becoming a junkie." "Again." "For the second time this season."
yeah but those scenese were SO DOPE. The movie theater/heroin smoking montage? The scene with hot-ass Marguiles on the couch with Chrissy, each trying to convince themselves that it's OK that they're back on junk, so long as they're not shooting up, still maintaining their relationships, etc. That dialogue was really strong.
definately thought chris was a gonner after they were leaving the diner and he said he would take his own car, or was that a reflection of the end of their relationship?
man how SERIOUS was that scene? the look in Marguiles' eyes, the uncomfortable realtionship dialogue, the awkward pause before exiting the booth? a great scene; lots of emotion/tension conveyed in those shots.
I also think the drug scenes have been so intense and very real, one day she won't take Robitussin and the next she's smoking H. It happens. I've seen it.
I thought Chrissy's car was gonna blow up or some shit.

A rare scene of Phil's crew around their table in BK?
Little Carmine's dumbass putting his foot in his mouth?
The reggaeton blasting hoods that wake up AJ's girl's baby? That scene was fresh; a tense moment when you SWEAR they're gonna beat up AJ and then they take the bike! A somewhat heavy-handed attempt to show AJ's independence from Tony, but a funny scene nonetheless.
Lot's of goodness. Some great shots, too. I'll admit it disappoints a little when viewed as a finale, but compared to other midseason episodes it was one of the best to date.

Cosign!!! I always had it bad for "Nurse Hathaway". Remember??? She looks even better now with a lil' more meat on her frame. Is it me, or does she have such a sexy face, kinda pouty and sensual (nice lips, too)? Not traditionally "pretty", but she has a very alluring look. Overall, I enjoyed the episode but I can't believe AJ was boinkin' that fine-ass Dominicana. Please!!!!

"No, Tone, I'm not going out with her...she was just advising me on what to get for my black girlfriend Kaisha." "So whatcha gonna get her?" "A Luther Vandross box set."
SERIOUS racist overtones in this ep. Especially when AJ's mom disapproves to his Dominican girlfriend ("she's ten years older than him, has a kid, AND she's Puerto Rican!") - looks like something out of that old 1970's hit "Brother Louie!" But then again, who said these folks were role models? Great episode.

i almost plotzed when he came out of the closet
that episode in particular, and the whole season in general seem heavy in symbolism & each episode had a themed formula going with the last one being almost Sopornos

yeah that whole scene was well planned. with the wifey calling, etc. Marguiles was really well cast, as she has the sex appeal, the dark side and the eerie-ness to keep up with chris and his addiction.

She is a single mother. He is Tony Soprano's son. It's not rocket science.
This was one of the strongest episodes of the season.
Whack to have to wait though, no doubt.
Hey why is this discussion not taking place in the Soprano's spoiler thread?
Fanboy here. Loved the ep. I didn't think Chrissy was going to see the end.

that thread is too long a nd I didn't want to have to go and find it, ummkay?>
I really liked this episode up until the end when I realized nothing big was going to happen and that I would have to wait again- argh!

Agent Harris tipping off Tony?

Marguiles in lingerie?
