Altho I always support the American squad, no matter how good or bad they are, my football heart will forever lie here:
And for the sake and pride of my Arubian peoples, I'm REALLY wanting this young buck to be healthy enough and to get enough minutes to contribute to the Oranje effort:
... even if in the Eredivisie he plays for a side I can't stand.
Not so secretely, tho, I'm also gonna be showing some love to my extended Caribbean fam, blasting some Bunji Garlin and wishing the Soca Warriors the best (and yeah, of course there's the Beenhakker connection):
Anyone watch the England and Jamaica friendly? Crouch Robot dance!!! Owen looks in pretty good form and there's talk of Rooney might be ready for Paraguay (tho I highly doubt it).
Rooney = Young Gascoigne. Too bad neither of them were born with brains. SO MUCH TALENT.
I don't think Rooneys in the Gazza league of mentalism, he's just very hotheaded, with a taste for banging grannies. He's calmed down a lot lately.Gazza was / is a damaged soul. Rooney was our best chance of winning though.I'm expecting quarter finals and will be more than happy if we get any further. Sadly we tactically don't have a clue and can only play one way.
It's a travesty SWP isn't going.
SWP is a one season wonder..Lennon is the future.
Am i the only one who thinks lampard is a completely different player for england??
To the Argentina fan - i watched your lot yesterday.Lots of big names and not much to show for it in my view.Messi is a different class.Your keeper looks shakey and the defence ain`t saying much in my view. You could be going home early again...
Ghana to beat Italy in their first group game too.My little outside bet.
Not wishing to piss on the Henry parade but while I do not doubt the man's talent he has proved time and time again that he is not a big game player (never scored in any final for club or country for starters).
Obviously my heart tells me England to win but realistically it's a very open World Cup. If it was being played outside Europe the obvious favourites would be Brazil but their record in the colder countries is nigh on terrible (excluding 1958). Argentina also would have probably been my pick were it not for their general performance in European held tournaments though I've got a sneaky suspicion they may pull it out of the bag this time.
Apart from that, you can never ignore Germany considering they were truly terrible last time round and still got to the final. Italy as well, though they are fielding a team past it's best, can never be discounted. Apart from that, Spain must surely also live up to their pre tournament hype sooner or later and the same goes for Holland.
Normally one of the African nations teams steps up and does something above expectations as well but i don't see it happening this time.
It's going to be an interesting world cup, I'm just praying for no penalty shoot outs.
being a bastard with no real nationality and seeing as south africa were too poo to even qualify i got to go against the grain here in blighty and support....

Agreed on all points there.
One thing I expect is Germany to be in the final, unless they meet a really quality team in the knockout stages. We (England) need to avoid them and thankfully we can as we know in advance if we need to finish 1st or 2nd in the group.
given that this thread has already veered off its course in to the land of painted boobies (which is not a bad thing), i am going to keep it off course but switch it up a bit.
Does anyone in the NYC/Tri-State area know of how to buy SINGLE tickets to the Barcelona vs. NY Red Bulls in August?
As far as i can tell, if you buy them from meadowlands/red bull you have to buy a package. I really don't see myself getting out to NJ for multiple games, so i'd rather not spend $130 for 3 games just to see only this one.
If anyone has details, and can hit me with a link or pm i would appreciate it.
also, i heard that the salt lake team is going to be hosting Real Madrid on the same day. fyi for the salt lake strutters/soccer heads.

sorry I can't help you with the specifics on this match, but last year I went through the exact same thing trying to get Real Madrid/LA Galaxy tickets. They only sold packages of 3 MLS games and for each number of packages you bought you were aloud to purchase that many tickets to the Real match. Such a load of crap if you ask me. Eventually as the game gets closer they'll sell individual tickets but all those suckers with the packages do get first dibs.
my advice would be to subscribe to the RedBulls website/email updates and it should keep you posted, that's what I did for the Galaxy as well as keep pestering their front office as the match gets closer.
2pm start for us in the UK. Planning to get to the pub for opening time to get good seats then it's merely a case of getting in as many pitchers of beer as we can fit on the table before the place fills up around us.
Am contemplating hwere I can go to have a catheter fitted - it'd almost be worth the pain not to have to push through the crowds with a beer laden bladder.
lots of injury crisises, holland down 3, ballack is uncertain for germany, sven getting too optimistic about rooney once again.
I am soooooooooooooo excited.
eng vs par sat 9am est dudes!!!!!
Sooo excited too!
Are there any good Brit pubs in the city that have a good set up for watching games? I know where to go for Korean & portuguese/brazil matches. But I can never find a good place for England games.
there are a few brit pubs in my neck of the woods (richmond hill) but I 'm sure there'll be spots downtown. Smokeless Joe is a good choice w/ their ample beer selection.
defense was weak. especially arne friedrich. metzelder was looking stressed too. great first game. lots of goals and fair play. congratulations germany!

wow... who woulda thought? wish i was back home... i KNOW how much they're celebrating right now... they close off main streets and pull out stages and shit when they win an important game... may as well enjoy it while we can before we get our asses kicked by germany

Germany is not that hot..I put my money on Ecuador

no way! once their defense gets better, germany will win that game. i wish they would kick out Schneider. Two chances and he missed both. He's such a weak player. We don't need him. Now if only Deissler was fit...
Comments
You're probably right..that party could get crazy after Argentina get's their asses kicked!
now here is some record porn..
Argentina, Holland outsiders but you can't look past Brazil. I got odds of 12/1 for an Argentina Brazil final. Do that shit.
