Speaking of Phat Kat and Detroit hiphop, this is one of more recent cases of in my mind garden of sick beats:

BLACK MILK - DANGER FT. T3 & PHAT KAT
Damn, it's crazy to see cats up on Black Milk on here. Nice...

  • gambitgambit 906 Posts
"Don't Nobody Care About Us" - off that Phat Kat sh*t

    psst...

    H2>IT'S JAY DEE, BATCHES!!!/H2>

    "Club Banger" by Phat Kat

Itz a Rap kills both of those.
    Wrong...

I'm biased. I'm so tired of hearing that song.
Dedication To The Suckers is a classic around my parts though. The noobie DJs here have overplayed "Itz a Rap." I could do without it for a while.

Mine would have to be -

De La Soul - "Stakes Is High"[/b]
This song was the one joint that changed that way I looked at hip-hop music and I started taking it a bit more seriously.
I still have yet to find any of the samples for the record either. I just don't search for that Ahmad Jamal record that hard. Plus I was just getting into Slum Village and I realized the producer from the group made the beat. I get amped whenever I hear it.

    Artifacts - Dynamite Soul rmx
Showbiz & AG - tie between the rmx's for You Know Now or Next Level
    Eric B & Rakim - I Ain't No Joke

HA.. No.. There's a million, but these just came to my head.

  • Top ___ ish:

    D.O.C.---it's funky enough

    Organized Konfusion---Bring it on Remix.

Brand Nubian---slow down---always gets me, even when I'm frontin, top 40 people were still playing edie brickell when this dropped...

    Gangstarr---Dwyck

Black Moon I gotcha open remix---every body needs some barry

Busta rhymes---whoo Hah---c'mon, when this dropped, shit was retarded...

Eric B and Rakim---Don't sweat the Technique

    Slick Rick---Children's Story

    Artifacts---Wrong Side of the tracks...

    N.W.A.--Express yourself remix

Main Source---Watch Roger do his thing 2nded by lookin at the front door

Nas---One love closely tied with about 3 or 4 other songs on the album

Dr. Octagon---blue flowers---when it came out, but now not so much and especially more than a few Ultra Mag tracks...

    Krs-ONe---Krs One Attacks

Wu-Tang: Protect Ya Neck, that was the first shit I heard, but I really like some songs off tical, and RaeKwon's album

Big Daddy Kane---Ain't no half Steppin

Masta Ace---Sittin on Chrome, but I love music man for the early rawness

Mobb Deep---Shook ones pt.2 loved the beat forever when it dropped, kinda tired of it now due to the played out factor so maybe "survival of the fittest"

missing from list: Black moon songs on first album, Premo's beats off sun rises in the east, and group home, and mass appeal and multiple Beatnuts songs, ....

    and west coast bonus,

Aceyalone---Makeba or Freestyle Fellowship---Inner city boudaries and especially Park Bench People, I was 15 when I was listening to it, and but then as I got older, and still one of my top albums, I had to and ended up with it being

plus current classic in the making is Blend Crafters Melody and rmx.

and I may get hated on but T.R.O.Y. ain't in my list.

Wow - good calls - a lot of really good calls. I myself would have to go with the Silence The Lambs original - that upright sample and flute combo is retarted -with the thems skull snaps drummys all chopped up - way too ill. But Wild Child is the shit and the Rock On remix is dumb fresh.
