seems like all i like right now are piano trios...give me some good ones

    LOVE Ramsey.

    His covers of '60s hits are so groovin. Makes you want to put on a turtleneck, jacket, nice shoes and shimmy on your way to the student riots.

    Agreed but move on from the 60's hits and get with the 70's albums if you haven't already. Another Voyage, for example.

    this album kicks all kind of ass... better than Mother Nature's Son , i think...

    also, anything by Ahmad Jamal is the shit!

    I def. love the late 60s-70s Ramsey shit even more, but it seems to fall a bit out of the "piano trio" sound once you start adding that Stepney orchestration and synths.

    yeah i am not really a fan of his either, but the fact that its on vortex peaks my interest, i dont really like zawinul but his album on vortex is pretty good...

    Red Garland trio is always nice.

    Red Garland definitely had some good ones.
    Crossings especially, with those big gloopy Ron Carter basslines is one of my faves!

    right, I agree. In fact, I don't really like most of the Vortex dudes a whole lot, but I like most of their Vortex albums. That Jarrett is a "nice one!" - kinda "out", without getting super free, but with an open, free-thinking groove that takes it way beyond the usual modal type of affair!!!. I think Charlie Haden & Paul Motion are bass & drums.
