Is this, for lack of a better term, a facemelter? I've seen it but never copped.

  • i need the Afro Blue and Billy Parker joints...

But yeah, i was thinking of starting a thread on this a while back. In the 70s, DeeDee was killing it on some guest appearances.

to me the most is "now I'll Sleep" from Charles Sullivan- Genesis. others:

Norman Connors- Love from the Sun
    " " - Dark of Light
    Frank Foster- Loud Minority
    Stanley Clarke- Children of Forever

i know there's more, please add on.

Her live in paris lp is pretty hot. All Blues is str8 lava!!!

She also sings on the original Wiz soundtrack, but that's not jazz.
Check her in Brother From Another Planet- movie. I wonder if that has a soundtrk?

Her version of "It's The Falling In Love" is interesting compared to M.Jackson'sOTWALL Version.

She used to be with Roy Ayer's Ubiquity in the early/mid 70's. Without checking, I'm sure she's the featured vocalist on "Time and Space". Niiice track.

I also heard a smokin' version of "How High The Moon" on the radio a few years back, which I guess from the applause is from a live set. I gotta get that one still. Is this the French one?

I have that on a Charley sampler CD, I always wondered where that came from too.

I really like her R&B Lps, the s/t one and 'Just Family' are pretty sweet. Not really spiritual jazz, but sweet.
Her version of 'She's Gone' is outta this world!

The track on the Mtume 'Rebirth Cycle' LP, "Cabral" is ridiculous.

i chill with her daughter in parties from time to time...daughter's name is China. She sings too, but not to down her, she does not have the same kind of skillz. A proof that when your mother is Aretha, you can end up as Nivea and not Lauryn...lol.

The mother is a trip...she's always making jokes and really is a passionate singer. I'm still eagerly waiting to have a talk with her. I'm sure she hides some jewels in her appartment.

PS : bevan, where are you man...no list?lol...
