this is one of my all time favorite songs...i'm trying to decide which cover is my favorite but this is an impossible task for me....Hell, i even like the "smoooooooth jazz" versions they play on the radio these days....

    o'donel levy version is nice on some jazz guitar shit, and of course all of the cti versions are good.

    Yeah,

    I really like the Milt Jackson version from the Sunflower LP. A killer!
    Young-Holt Unlimited did also a dope version of this song, its on their "...Plays Superfly" LP. Comptons Most Wanted also sampled this one on their Straight Checkn'Em LP...

    And I have to go with the OG for me. The Ramon Morris, Milt Jackson and O'Donel Levy versions are dope but nobody's fucking with the original IMO. I think it's the vocals that do it para mi.

    Profile - Sands Of Time has a dope dope version. Sounds like DJ Shadow used the Ramon Morris bass and the guitars of the Profile verison for his version (Blackalliscioues)???

    i'm pretty sure shadow used several versions on that song. the o levy was definitely one of them, no question. and maybe the freddie hubbard polar a/c one.

    the Herb Alpert/Hugh Masekela version is pretty good...the goddamn horns are mixed tooooo fuckin' loud though

    the Bobby Hutherson version is dookie
