Yeah, tap bar is a bit low key, if it was anywhere else I'd be pissed, but IMO the main room at the Knit sucks: no atmosphere, crap view, and crap bar, so I can live with it.

    blurb:

Skull Snaps were a mysterious funk group that lasted long enough to record
and release a self-titled 1973 album before apparently disbanding. Since its
small-time release on the GSF label, Skull Snaps has become one of the more
legendary rare funk records, having been sampled countless times on rap
records. Gang Starr's "Take It Personal," Camp Lo's "Cooley High," Ol' Dirty
Bastard's "Hippa to da Hoppa," Lords of the Underground's "Funky Child," and
Diamond D's "Sally Got a One Track Mind" represent just a handful of the
tracks that have put the drums from "It's a New Day" to use. (amg)

  • I'm pretty positive the OG three got together and performed as the Diplomats at a northern jam in UK. I saw a pic and they are some large brothers now days.

    Pazant Bros on horns

    Dooley-O

  • Nah, only two of the members of the Diplomats and Skull Snaps played at the UK show, namely Samm and Erv. (The other guys in the UK show were Erv's brothers AND they just did vocals at Cleothorpes in the UK). The show on December 9 has them with the missing link of the Skull Snaps, namely George Bragg (the drummer).

  • someone please get videofootage of this,...

Had a chance to snap a few photos of the Skull Snaps rehearsal a few weeks back. This one is Sam Culley on the bass and George Bragg on the drums working over "I'm Your Pimp"

    Nice!

  • 24 Hours to Skull Snaps landing...

  • They didn't play It's A New Day.

    Why would they do this?
No one in the crowd could believe it when they walked off the stage. I mean, we expected it to be the last song, but they just didn't come back on.

Are they mad they never made cash from the samples? I think they did mention something about never making a dime from the lp. Is it too late for them to take action, and would it be worth it anyway?

    Real headz want to know...

Sorry, but Realheadz aren't there for just the braeks

It was supposed to be a 2 set show but The Knit is very strict about schedules. Sharon Jones once got cut off mid song. And the way the drums were mic'd I don't think it would have satisfied people anyway. You'll have to check the next show at a better venue.

Dooley-O was extremely excellent. Hands up if you missed that!
