"Biden Angered By Tough Questions"

already posted? b, 21b, 21this clip is interesting on its own merits; it's one of the best examples I've seen of a major Democratic candidate having tough yet reasonable answers to highly politicized badgering from right-wing media. b, 21b, 21but what interests me even more is the way its being circulated on youtube as some sort of victory for the right. the title and text attached to this clip ( "Biden Angered by Tough Questions," a href="" target="_blank"1 )b, 21suggests that Biden somehow failed here. Is the hope that people will simply see the headline, and not watch? Is it for the benefit of people too stupid to digest the content themselves, who will be reassured by the title that although they don't understand the exchange between the reporter and Biden, "their team won"? Or are there really people out there who will view this and feel that Biden "cracked" under the pressure from "tough questions"?b, 21b, 21It reminds me of the (sigh) Joe The Plumber incident. Most anyone who watched the clip of Obama's interaction with JTP saw measured, reasonable, content-driven answers to JTP's questions... and yet the right attempts to claim a victory. b, 21b, 21object width="425" height="344"1param name="movie" value=""1/param1param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"1/param1embed src="" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"1/embed1/object1

Surely it should be "Biden Baffled, Slightly Irritated By Stupid Questions"?

  • Well done Biden

  • People in America are completely losing their mind with the the word "socialist." What I mean is, do they understand that taxes are to fund programs that help the majority of Americans? That's where we're moving with increasingly socialized (there I said it) medicine. Taxes themselves "spread the wealth around" but those who are against it also want more from their government.... serious disconnect. b, 21b, 21/font1
Quote:/font1h,121b,121Palin said an Obama presidency would lead to government moving into the role of taking care of Americans. She says "they do this in other countries where the people are not free."b,121b, 21h,121

  • who WAS writing her questions? holy F*ck

font class="post"1b,121b, 21exactly. b, 21b, 21Obama = Karl Marx is about as ridiculous as you can get, but Biden managed to be effectively dismissive in both content and demeanor. And still, apparently there are people out there that think this reflects poorly on him, instead of being another example of political bias and general airheadery in the media.

Hey,b,121b, 21I think Joe Biden expertly handled the reporter's incredibly loaded questions. If anything, the interviewer comes off looking like a buffoon, while Biden looked notably unphased and assured in his responses. Spinning this interview to confirm the GOP's position just shows how amazing (and self-serving) perceptual biases can be!!! GTFOOHWTBS!!!b,121b, 21Peace,b,121b, 21Big Stacks from Kakalak

Is this fox news or something? Those questions were ridiculous. Big co-sign w/ Big Stacks.

  • his look at 4:26 is priceless.

  • "The right wing blogs are all worked into a lather over an interview Joe Biden did recently with WFTV, a local television station in Orlando. They seem to think Biden somehow embarrassed himself or got rattled during the interview. The fact that they think that is further evidence of the rapidly widening gulf between the reality most of us inhabit and the alternate universe where most right wing bloggers now reside."

  • he was getting mad. i don't blame him.b,121b, 21man I would of love to of been a fly on the wall after he got finished.

font class="post"1b,121b, 21yup. my point in posting it was as follows... i'm genuinely curious if any of the right-wingers reposting and discussing this interview GENUINELY think this reflects poorly on Biden, or they simply feel like McCain and Palin have given them so few positives -- and Obama and Biden so few negatives -- to work with that they have to use Dem-positive raw material and try to retitle and repackage it as negatives. are they really at that level of desperation?b,121b, 21or are they pitching to the lowest common denominator Republican, that special individual who will watch this and think "YES! Someone finally called Biden out as a Marxist to his face!!! You go girl!" and then plug up their ears so they don't hear Biden's reasonable (if appropriately stern) dismantling of the accusation.

As someone alright pointed out, same exact thing they are doing with the JoeThePlumber incident.b,121b, 21In general, they seemed to have this strategy going into the debates, e.g. depicting McCain as "on the attack, backing Obama into a corner" etc. etc. In reality, Obama appeared poised and competent and McCain rather disorganized and frazzled, if you will. b, 21b, 21The analysis immediately after the third debate (the only one I watched completely), mostly from the right-wing commentators, claimed the first half-hour as a victory for McCain. Some of the left seemed to be conceding the same. As someone with quite a bit of public speaking experience, John McCain in the first half-hour of that debate reminded me of myself when I am not adequately prepared and searching for a talking point that can get things back on track. A lot of what he said seemed rather disconnected and incoherent.b,121b, 21I think this strategy is being co-opted from the Orwellian mastery of Karl Rove, from the Clear Skies Act all the way back to the Swift Boat-John Kerry thing...except some are now less willing to swallow that pill, maybe.b,121b, 21As for the socialism thing, frankly, I think it's hilarious. The desperation oozing from the McCain campaign is palpable. I heard Lindsey Graham on Meet the Press today imply that Obama's plans to increase spending AND taxes was somehow irresponsible. It made me LOL.

  • yall think its gonna get uglier in the next few days??b,121as my pop said tonight...they are resorting to this ridiculous, simpleton, divisive bullshit cause "...they got nothing to offer and are out of ideas"

font class="post"1b,121b, 21they wouldn't do it if it didn't work. you could pretty much run a donkey and a chimp on the bill and put some fancy pr department behind them and probably get quite a few votes. someone should do that as an experiment.

These are the types of questions journalists should be asking and politicians should be answering. b, 21b, 21I just wish that Obama, McCain and Palin were regularly asked equal as hard and loaded questions. b, 21b, 21People are talking about Obama is commie. Journalist should give him the chance to respond. b, 21b, 21Likewise McCain should have to answer questions about being erratic for 4 minutes. "But if you are not erratic, why did you say you were suspending your election, then keep running ads?" and on and on for 4 minutes.
