Albums that you put you into transcendental bliss
I've never been able to connect to this kind of music - like, I'm one of those people who can't really put music on as a background to anything verbal (reading, conversation, work). It kind of monopolizes my attention - so the more meditative and mellow something is, the harder it is for me to get with. The closest thing for me so far I guess is drum/percussion-only recordings.
So what's a recommendation as an "in" to this kind of stuff for someone like this?I think Music for 18 Musicians is really accessible and captivating. Have you heard that?

Beat making
^^ i cringed at the Queen/Ice Ice Baby sample at first, but i really like the way that came together.i make a lot of mixes but generally only put together one beat every 2 years or so when i find the inspiration+time. it's never been my thing tbh, even though i can play a few instruments (badly).but i've been working from home and with my kids for the last few months (we're traveling as a family, working/home-schooling, so it's weird for everyone), and recently discovered garage band with them. we all find it very fun, esp with the sampler. i also like how i can just make a quick one minute long thing and move on without having the capacity to do more with it. garage band has a lot of functionality, but it's all really basic. i tend to over-produce my mixes (by habit/compulsion), so it's liberating.here are some things i've done in last month that i like. quality is really variable... like, the rihanna/sza sample is off my cell phone speaker... -
