    Society from 1989

Reminds me of a high school buddy who was a big fan of "Re-Animator" and anything influenced by Lovecraft. He introduced me to "From Beyond" ('86) and "Dagon" ('01), both which were genuinely scary. I would recommend them based on the Yunza/Gordon connection if you liked "Society".

I don't know if you've seen it, but "Wishmaster" was one of the few decent, moderately budgeted 90s horror films which delivered the fright and the gore, but without the wink-and-nod camp (although Robert Englund, Kane Hodder and Tony Todd were purposely cast to play hapless victims).

I enjoy 70s Italian giallo. As a rule, if the cryptic title includes the name of an animal or insect, it's worth watching. That said, I never understood why people classify them as "horror", graphic violence aside. Most are whodunnit police procedurals at their core. "Horror" to me implies supernatural/demonic elements.

Speaking of which, I'll throw out "Xtro", "Dead And Buried" and "City Of The Living Dead". As far as Asian horror goes, "The Boxer's Omen" is a must-see with scenes which will stick with you.

  • TAKE THAT SHIT TO THE-BRITS.COM

So sorry, D. The stretch when a loved one fades away is both heartbreaking for those looking in on the outside and must be frustrating for the one who has to cope with it personally. My grandfather, on my father's side who passed ten years ago, was a wood worker, hunter and car enthusiast. Macular degeneration and a couple of unfortunate shop accidents robbed him of his hobbies and that made him bitter. Eventually lung cancer surfaced, despite quitting cigarettes cold turkey decades before, and that did him in. This left my grandmother really depressed. I kept her company by visiting and calling her often, cooking meals for her and talking about old movies that were playing on Turner Classic Movies. I even feigned interest in church religion or Dodger baseball just for the sake of conversation. But she had this very apathetic "whatever" kind of attitude until she passed in hospice. Then there was my Dad. We were very close but he just didn't give a shit about anything which would possibly prolong his life. He loved his smokes and fast food too much. A series of strokes and descent into dementia got him slowly, like my grandmother on my mother's side. Life is fragile. Stay happy and healthy.

I know next to nothing about soccer. Just wanted to pop in and share my family story.

Dear Electrode, thousand thanks for your help. Very impressive, you seem to know everything! Kind regards and stay healthy! ☺️

You're very welcome. But I'm not that smart. My aunt gave me some records from her teen years and the "Butterfly" LP was one of them. Both the WMGGW/'Windmills Of Your Mind' similarity and the synth solos stuck. And a lyric search confirmed it. It's a common record here, being on A&M.
