On May 25, 1969 Led Zeppelin opened for the Who at Merriweather Post Pavillion in Columbia, MD. It was the only show the two bands ever did together.

Bummer. At least she wasn't your wife/mother to your kids.

Although DC has gotten better, gunshots are a fairly common sound in my neighborhood (Ledroit Park). Here's a video from last week that came from my corner store (I'm there at least 5-6 times a week):

Nice one Johnny. Now Martha and I can hang out with you guys. Once we got married we decided that we would only hang out with other married (or engaged) couples. Our only contact now with our old single friends is when we try and hook them up with p…

Just picked up one of his books last week: Great bathroom reading. Nice CD too.

Check Baden out in the Saravah documentary (highly recommended!). The guy could smoke and play like nobody's business.

Local finds. Last five days or so.

Lots of great stuff going on Monday and Tuesday. Anyone ever go to the Great American Smokeout held on the 4th on the White House back lawn? Getting high with 5000 people in that location in full view of DC metro and secret service was fun for many…

Here's the answer to the Carlton Livingston question: He does sing but its not The one Sent from my BlackBerry wireless handheld.

Not sure which Carlton Livingston it is but I can find out. Nothing would surprise me at the Lounge. I do know that Kalani (Thievery's former manager) spins mostly reggae.

If you get bored with Delay's set I'll be spining next door (literally):

Svenonius has had a hold pile with me since the day I opened my first record store three years ago. He has one now. He will buy them (eventually). He came to my DJ gig last night and said he liked the tunes. Mackaye visits me regularly as well but …

When I worked for a daily newspaper a few years ago we worried about staying current with cable news being everywhere. By the time the newspapers hit the stands in the morning your big story was old news and cable had moved on to the next story. One…

RIP. I used to love the Chaser. When I first started DJing around 1990 I read their DJ charts religiously. They turned me on to loads of jazz, soul, reggae, and acid jazz that I never would have heard on the radio here in DC. The current 12"s on the…

I was lucky enough to see the Replacements 5-6 times starting with a show in Athens in the early 80's that was one of the best shows I've ever seen period. The band was on fire and when 1AM rolled around (curfew in Athens back then) the owner of the…
