SP 1200 said: Tical definitely. It was a league below all of the above for me and another example of how a having a big personality and distinctive voice can carry a rapper a bit further than they maybe deserve. Busta would fall into this …

Definitely deserves it's place this far up the list. Solid from front to back.

I agree with you on Goblin. A plodding, nihilistic mess. It has it's charms but is a chore to listen to. The follow up is way better.

This thread could stray into dangerous territory I'll cosign on the Roots. I'll throw Straight Outta' Compton into the ring. The first three songs are certified classics but there's a bunch of filler on there imo. Do three songs make …

This thread inspired me to throw on Blowout Combs. I liked it more than I remembered doing so...

Curtis/Live! and Roy Ayers 'He's Coming'... I really should of had these filed years ago but the Strut 100 pushed me to go get them. Curtis/Live! is stellar, He's Coming is really great but there's one or two cuts that make it drag slightly. …

I really liked it. It's a much darker album than they're previous ones though and a lot of the tracks peter out quite quickly and seem to just 'end' rather than fade out.

He puts together great comps but that 'All Ten Fingers' album he made was pretty awful imo.

Yep, it's pretty much untouchable as a long player front to back.

This really had me scouring the memory banks... but as a kid I guess these three would have had the biggest influence on me or at least the ones I bought with my own money and played heavily before hip-hop took over. Iron Maiden: Seventh Son …

I've never understood the hate this guy generates. He's always been doing his thing at the pop end of the hip-hop spectrum and he's stayed true to it. Sure, I'm not actively seeking out his back catalogue or scrambling to catch his latest flicks but…

I always seem to think of him nowadays as 'Will Smith actor' and tend to forget he came up in hip hop's golden age. That line 'yo holmes smell you later' just reminds me of this clip I saw the other day. I laughed anyway...

One of all time favourites. Great lyrics/message with an impassioned delivery backed by a killer band. Alphonse Mouzon nails it on this one. So many nice little fills and nuanced drumming throughout. Outlaw doesn't quite hit the same heights but the…

Lurking for years but only recently started posting stuff. I'm live just south of Dublin, Ireland. I'll listen to pretty much any old thing and collect a little of everything.

Just watched this... I concur... stoked.

How about Katy at the Black Ark produced by Lee?

Speaking of that GOAT record... I was passing by Tower records here in Dublin and heard it being played instore. I had no idea what it was and managed to get the name of it off one of the staff. It sounded really interesting and I'll be picking it u…

Paul Mauriat?

Thanks man, I've been lurking for years but that's about the only note worthy thing record wise that's happened in a long time. The biggest mystery is how those records ended up here. They're not reissues and have cut outs on them. Bizarre.

4 sealed copies of The Nite-Liters 'Instrumental Directions' randomly turned up in my local charity shop. Since the shop is just outside of Dublin, Ireland I'd love to know how these found there way there since it's been mentioned in another thread …
