All the hype soured it somewhat, but it's a good lp.

It looks like a potato on a fork to me.

Is it just me or does this year seem like quite a weak selection on the Lp front?

He's about to brake in to his famous Charlie Chaplin impersonation.

I suspect I'll never ever hear the album itself but I can't help feel that this is one of the greatest covers to grace the rap scene in years. So much emoting.

EDIT: I see I'm only like the fifth person in this thread to make the drumstick observation. Never mind.

This is neither here nor there, but I've always thought the composition of that photo (the full square version) is awful.

    Total Control - Henge Beat

    Danny Brown - XXX

    Video - Leather Leather

    Panda Bear - Tomboy

Inquisition - Ominous Doctrines of the Perpetual Mystical Macrocosm

    Iceage - New Brigade

and maybe: Oneohtrix Point Never - Replica

So much phony whining - in this picture, in every one of his lyrics, in his whole faux-tortured manufactured persona.

See this is it for me. I never sat through the first Drake album as the world was kind enough to play it out of shops and cars and music television thus helping me feel like I had it on permanent loop. Finding his subject matters, the production style used and his particular rap persona incredibly irritating I was happily content that this one would pass me.

However, the more I see that cover the more I want to hear the album that accompanies it. From the pained look on his face to the framing (including the badly thought out placement of the drumstick/bird) to the modern soul styled signed title this speaks to me. If this album came out thirty years ago and I saw it in a bargain bin I'd be running home to hear what treats were inside.

In fact I'm going to boot up spotify right now and stare at the cover while soaking in the torment.

    On other matters

and maybe: Oneohtrix Point Never - Replica

    This is really really good.

Possibly a late contender, or maybe a poast for the New Music thread, but I'm enjoying what I've heard of the new LP by Sepalcure (Machinedrum + Braille). It's nothing revolutionairy, but I like the woozy vibe.

FWIW, Drake has the charisma of David Blaine without the magic. And he's a wank-stain.

    +1 for drumstick.

The Big Ghost review of the Drake album is just about the only one I've read that manages to keep its knickers on.

I have no idea what any of the non-rap, non-Drake picks are.
I love how the covers and names might be metal, punk, electronic or folk music for all I can tell.
Are these picks more one genre than the other or a mix?

And just when you think Drake can't top that, check out another awkwardly composed photo from the liner notes:
