sweet record. "guadalupe" is fairly off the hook but then again i like all the hip ensemble stuff to some degree.

And the other two he did for them. Of the three, two are quartet recordings, an unusual format for him at this time. Apparently they are available now as a 3 Lp box set.

Great record. Also check out his band's version of "Well, You Needn't" on it; kicks so much ass. Nice guy still (?) doing his thing. I met him after a show at Catalina in L.A. a few years ago and he signed my copy of the LP. I also have his "Live At The Riverboat" (with "Footprints" and yet another "I'm So High"), another Italian record. Is the Mainstream one any good?

cosign, great guy. did a 2 hour interview with him some years ago that i've never transcribed or put up anywhere, he talks extensively about racing cars across central park with miles davis, rolling with john coltrane in his beat up estate car to gigs that were hundreds of miles away, and stuff of that ilk. some of the best anecdotes any jazz man i've spoken to. he still plays really well.
