I've been searching for the original sample since Since We Last Spoke came out.
It's been killing me inside that I can't find it.
I bet that if I find it, more doors for different types of music will open.
This brief part of the song always motivates me to digging and scratching.
Does anyone know the original sample?

I think this sample comes from one of Leo Sayer's records...
This one haunts me xD
1976 - Endless Flight
1974 - Just A Boy
Alright going to listen to these 2 albums real fast and i'll come back to tell what the progress report is
I was expecting RJD2 to be like MF Doom like how he samples 80s music sometimes like in KMD. Then makes it sound all hard, but sadly thats not what I found.
I guess...
Don't get me wrong, I'm not about to nominate it for inclusion in Harvey's "dismissed upon release" thread, and I wouldn't be too upset if I never heard When I Need You or You Make Me Feel Like Dancing again for the rest of my life. But otherwise, as an exemplar of that high-end LA sessioner pop/R&B style that was everywhere in the mid-70s, there's nothing wrong with it at all. Even in that specific style, there's certainly much worse out there. I bet there are quite a few people on here who, if they came across an unknown album called Endless Flight in a dollar bin and saw that Chuck Rainey, Steve Gadd, Ed Greene and Willie Weeks playing on it, and Gene Page had done the string arrangements, they might think it was worth a punt.
The one without the bells? I heard RJ's got a copy.
I don't use twitter so I sent a tweet and it pretty much went like
"@rjd2 hey rjd2, Its my first time using twitter. i wanted to ask you something but i cant fit it all so heres the link soulstrut.com/index.php/foru???"
:/ i was only allowed like 140 letters :/.
So I hope that sort of helps. He might skim over this thread.
Cool he might answer, maybe try sample@salmahayek as well. Gurl got mad knowledge on records and maybe she stumbles upon this thread.
He couldn't spill it. It's a trade secret.
Which I respect, I definately would keep the sample secret if I stumbled upon it.
I'll find it eventually. Someday when I'm digging I'll find it haha.
haha
congrats, that worked out pefectly lol
:sonned:
If you wont tell us when you find it why should we tell you?
I meant that if I found it out by accident I would want to keep it secret to only people worthy of knowing it.
If I do find this sample. I'll blast it all over this forum haha.
Thanks to Jesse Futerman for the ID
Good f***ing times
