Anyone in Toronto go the CKLN sale yesterday? As I understand it, they sold of the remainder of their library as they re-group and make the transition to being an online station based out/serving the Regent Park community.
I got there for the preview but a bit late. And even as I was leaving they were still carting in thousands of records on trolleys. It was sad to see a college radio library gutted like that, but it was so much fun to buy there. There was so much stuff that I'd never seen before, so it was a lot of guesswork, but I'm really happy with the 20-30 things I got.

Any idea what they're doing with what's left? Word of a follow up sale?
no idea, but it was a diverse crowd in the house, so it would probably be a really bad looking lot that was leftover!
yeah, i took some pics a couple of days ago. i'll try to pos'emup later today.
i really wish i found that hypnotics b/w disco strut 3 to the rescue...

^ These are all from City Records, which I can't find any info on (anyone?). The comp above is a great mix of early/mid 90s dancehall looks (note the Denise Benson cameo on the cover - local DJ-r), and the three 7"s are all on the same riddim (by The Docta) including awesome covers of "Real Love" and "Can't Stop" that are as good as you would expect them to be.

^Gypsy Esma is dope - my wife loves it too. note the klezmer vibe on this one:

^Evening in Torpor (right) is a late 80s Natalie Merchant project. wacky. one song sounds like kraftwerk:

^The Don Sebesky is not on CTI in spite of cover design!

^Weird but strangely interesting at times.

^The Stanley might be my favorite in the lot - beautiful covers of Love for Sale, Evidence and Equipoise. Recorded live in Toronto in 1985!

^Franklin Thompson vanity project.

^Had to grab this - has Wild on the other side.
And there's a pile of 70s rock/qubecoise stuff that i haven't really listened to yet. could be some baaad stuff in there. oh, also got a perfect copy of this!:
Everything was $35.
