In case you are wondering the Meters are on the cover.
I got it this weekend, but I am only around 1/3 through (hey, I only have to go to the bathroom so many times a day...) - the ol skool photos are dope, and I liked the JVC F.O.R.C.E. article, where dude talks about swiping copies of the 12" from the label and driving around to stores to wholesale them himself. The Dooley O/Skull Snaps article was the Seinfeld of hip hop journalism, ie "an article about nothing."
Unless Dooley is going to tell me who did the country-ish soul duet ("I Want to Love you Baby" - song #17) on his CD - that article might as well be about nothing.

I haven't heard Dooley's tape, but there's a Peggy Scott & Jo Jo Benson duet by that name that is pretty good. It's on a 45 and an LP ("Lover's Holiday") on SSS Int'l. It was also comped a few years back on a Fat City 45 compilation.
I got it this weekend. Only read the King Jammy article which was OK. I like the rap photos from yesteryear.
King Jammy's
by Beth Lesser (ECW Press) ISBN 1-55022-525-1
The only Jammy document you need to read.
K in the town of Beth Lesser.
co-sine to the max
Reggae (semi) Quarterly & her dancehall book are also the best she was still selling some back issues of RQ , do not sleep on those !!
It's sad she dropped out of the reggae journalist game, but I guess she had bigger fish to fry. Still makes a good living off her photo stock - in fact, if you look at most of the reggae literature coming out (Bass Culture, Reggae Rough Guide, Perry Book) 50% of the photo's are hers.
You should hear the PAblo dub plates he gave her and her husband
Minus the Gary McFarland article (WHY?), I think they're back on track.

Yeah, I'd like to read that article.
Gotta be better than the one about the guy who played with Gary and Gabor Szabo! I mean, it wasn't so terrible, but the whole time I am reading it I felt like I was reading about a guy talking to another guy about another guy he worked with who worked with some famous people that only record nerds cared about.

I got it yesterday and haven't yet had a chance to read much of it, but I gotta agree--aside from the Gary McFarland article, everything at least looks interesting, which is a real improvement over recent issues.
Also, I see they're combining the first four issues into a bound anthology sometime next year, which means the going price of those coveted Issue 2s will likely plummet--better sell now, little dudes.

the whole look of the index on the main page.
You should edit that schitt and bring it under control.
I want to be able to see who the most recent poster is of a thread
and right now that is off the right end of the screen.
I ain't about to click on a thread just to find out it was
graced by a cosignature of one of the top 10 site retards.
That'd be a waste of my time, my conversation, and my fuckin'.
Anyway, nobody responded yet and people either don't care or
or they didn't get the new issue yet.
So just change the thread to something else.
Yeah we know you got the issue first.
What's your issue?
You know RAJ hates that schitt anyway, you're probably just
trying to get a rise out of RAJ.
Change this whole schitt to something like dogs wearing
costumes or what the things a smart, well-trained chimpanzee
could really do. Chimpanzee wouldn't waste time with
all the arrows, for one.
I wish I was a dime a dozen lawyer with nothing to do but post on a website.
Insert hippy comment. Insert snowboard comment. Insert something about records I have comment.
