I do, and yes. I've only had it for a couple months now, but no problems here, and it's way faster than my old AT&T DSL.

    Too many outages.

  • can't comment on comcast as I'm too poor for it...but Uverse is great and my bill is only $20 a month.

I sincerely believe it's Comcast's intent to wear you down by their poor customer service and shoddy equipment that eventually you'll stop caring, and stop calling them. While surely not unique to Comcast, it's very effective for them, at least in my case. My digital-voice style phone rang a few days ago; it was surprising as last I knew, several months back, it didn't function. That said, when it's working, the internet is blazin'. I have the Triple Threat or whatever -- internet, digital voice and cable. I only use one of them with any frequency.

    I stay pissed.

A co-worker of mine used to work for them. He said he never worked harder for less money in his entire life. Their installers are paid by the job. Most of the time, if the installers see anything that isn't an easy install they say they don't have the rights tools/parts and you have to reschedule. I had Comcast come out 6 times just to get basic cable installed. That's not counting the 4 no-shows. Once they told me that they came by but nobody answered. They told me "we left a note on your screen door sir". I said "I don't have a screen door. You must have gone to the wrong place."
Them: "Well you'll have to reschedule"

    WTF

I have AT&T Uverse now. Got it 2 weeks ago. I thought "surely they must be better than Comcast". Wrong. 1st install date was a no=show. Next time he showed up 4 hours late and imediately started bitching that he had to climb 2 poles. ISN'T THAT YOUR JOB!?

It's pretty much the only game in town on the Outer Cape, but I've never had any issues and it works better than any connection I've been on in NYC.

    Not cheap, however.

I was totally outraged and pissed with Comcast, based on my dealings with them in CA, I grudgingly resumed internet service with them here in TX and have had zero problems and really quite decent customer support. Night and Day. Don't know if it is the regional difference or if they have just improved overall, but I'm pleased with the change.

I've had no problems and customer service, although my interactions have been minimal, has been surprisingly good. Not mad. I read so many terrible terrible reviews, but so far so good. I had ATT before and the speed was not worth the price.

In my experience, which is 6+ years of their internet service, the good: almost never goes down, ever. like, the last time I lost service and couldn't fix it by resetting my router was probably over 2 years ago. the bad: very expensive. I have internet and cable with minimal extras and my bill is $150 a month. I think the internet is like $50 of that.

however, the guy that said "too many outages" lives less than 20 minutes from me, so it appears experiences vary in relatively close areas.

Had Comcast for years and never had any real problems, but the price kept going up. Fios came into town and I got a sick deal for comparable TV and faster internet, and I'm very happy with that.

shit is expensive, but it is really the only option for us so we deal. The phone lines in our neighborhood are pretty old and shitty so the DSL couldn't deliver...couldnt even really stream netflix very well. So we had to go with Comcast. Rat bastard rip off artists.

I had comcast internet 7 years ago. Service was terrible. Kept going out and the service people were indifferent.

Switched to Integra (verison reseller) dsl .50mb with the promise they would upgrade soon. Service is dependable and it is easy to talk to them and get quick help when there is a problem.

But I am ready to speed things up. The sales people at comcast (cable monopoly here) were great I told them right off I didn't want tv and phone and they were cool, which has not been my experience in the past.

Bought a cable modem at radio shack. Turns out the MAC# had been in their system once before (perhaps because of a mistake, or perhaps the modem had been used then returned to RS and resold to me).
Sales told me to call tech support and tell them the problem and they would remove the mac# from the other account.

The guy at tech support was bored/rude/condescending from the git go. Her punctuated each insult with a "sir", as if he was being polite when he was being an asshole. He said I had 2 choices, I could call their unidentified customer and request that the customer request the mac # removed from the account or I could rent a modem from them.

I figured I had a third choice, I returned the modem to radio shack and canceled service.
I am still dealing with them every day. Yesterday I found out I owed 49.99 and spent the day dealing with billing.

Sorry Charlie, but I will stick with slow internet. Please don't be insulted if I don't watch the vid you post up, my connection is too slow to be bothered.

am I wrong in thinking that, while they did not need to be rude about it, they were pretty much correct in saying that your third-party hardware issue was not their problem? I assume you bought your own to save money from the monthly rental charge or whatever, but I still have the modem they gave me 6+ years ago and have had no issues. I can see where they would say, hey, you chose to strike out on your own instead of using our product, if there is a problem with it that's for you to deal with.

Nothing wrong with your thinking. This is my thinking.
The sales guy actually told me that the rental cost was $7 a month but they were not expensive.
Cost about $80 at Radio Shack, or less than a years rent.
When the problem popped up the sales guy said, here is the tech # they will take care of the problem with the quickness.
    I told the tech story.
I called sales and told them my problem, but my sales guy was not there.
2 days later I returned the modem and canceled service.
The next day when the sales guy returned, he sorted out the problem, called me and told me my modem would now work.
I told him sorry, but I had already returned it and canceled service.

So here is the thing. I could have gotten another modem and been good.
I could have waited for the sales guy to fix something the tech guy wouldn't. Tech could have fixed the problem, since sales eventually did.

But what I learned was, that even as a new customer I was not going to get tech support. Which lead me to believe that once they had my money things would be even worse. Which was my experience when I had comcast years ago.

I made a decision that I would be happier with slow internet and reliable service than fast and terrible service.

BTW: The sales guys were great every step of the way.

  • **QUICK TIP*** Most people probably don't know this, but Comcast has increased they're internet speeds about a month ago. Turn off you CPU unplug your modem and plug it back in after a minute and you should have faster speeds.

I went to war with Comcast at one point in time. Spent months beefing with them BUT they're all that I got. It's like a bad relationship. They have good channels and have recently added TONS of free stuff to on demand. It's dumb expensive though. Here's the thing with them, if you can get everything straight and calmed done they are fine. If you're connected right and just pay your bill you can be okay.

i have Comcast internet and i am happy.
Its a big company and they are bound to be a little too much sometimes about certain stuff.
I like the high speed and have had zero problems with outages.
I found tech support to be more then helpful when i had connection issues during self install.
No problems here just fast porn and netflix
