    Dope!

The hipster per minute quota in the video was a bit too much for me, though.

    Reminds me of Tracy Chapman.

What's with the guy in the bunny suit at the 2 second mark?

Who's the producer/backing band? They definitely got the sound right.

sounds cool but it's basically a retro carbon copy of a richard evans/charles stepney production for terry callier.

I liked this a lot. I didn't really see it so much as a carbon copy, more so just respect for his influences as obvious as they were to us. There was a level of sincerity that made it okay for me, plus they got the sound right. I wish more dudes were actually WRITING songs this good. I would wholeheartedly stock this in my shop.

love this. trying to think of a suitable comparison and the best i can come up with is some kind of nick drake/sam cooke hybrid. and i am aware how lame these type of "a cross between x and y" descriptions are.

So far I only knew "Tell Me A Tale" which is a great piece of music, especially the arrangement on the song is haunting. Now as I've seen Kiwanuka in a more stripped-down singer-songwriter setup I'm reminded very much of Labi Siffre (not only because he's British too).

Is the LP out yet? I only have the Getting Ready 10" and can't see myself dropping 100 bucks on his first EP.

  • Its supposed to be out next month think hes gonna go mainstream already daytime radio plays here. Glad for the guy.
