Airplane Strut (electronic luggage-r)

I'm going to Portland in 2 weeks and I want to take my MPC1000 along with me. How should I take that along? Just put it in my bag, or have it in a separate carry-on bag? I'm not a seasoned traveler, being on a plane twice (4 if you count the return trip), both times being 3 years ago.

I already look like someone they would profile at the airport, so I'm just trying to get through this hassle-free.

What about a portable turntable as well?

put the mpc in the laptop bag and the portable in your backpack, have done this plenty of times

I would try a carry on. There was a thread recently where a fellow Strutter's portable and other items were ruined when a careless baggage handler dragged his bag.
