it's used a lot on Subtropic - Homebrew (the first drum sample - comes in around 26 secs):

it's used enough that it probably has a name - anyone know what it's from?

I think it might be some of the 'Plastic Jam' break beats series. (labello blanco).
It was around as a download a while ago, can't seem to find it now though.

(they were here but the links don't seem to be working)

If not, it sounds like a lot of old school jungle breaks that have been processed (apache, plastic jam etc)

Isn't this "God Made Me Funky" pitched up?

    or that!

i think a processed / layered version may be used in the Plastic Jam series somewhere.

  • nah guys yiz are waaay off.

You are all thinking 60s/70s soul funk; this is some kind of talking drum or other indian percussion instrument and is probably on a ethnic or (more likely) a spriritual jazz fusion record, but that's just a guess. I does sound 60s/70s though.

No way it's a chopped amen/think/apache etc. I have done plenty of work with those myself and could spot them a mile off.

Thanks for the link to the loops though (links worked fine for me, just gotta rename them to .wavs)

maybe I should take this to a junglist forum.
