Fucking hell, I've just heard that Mick Karn of Japan has died too. Not a great start to the year.

  • Damn. Love his solo stuff, and the early Humblebums stuff too.

RIP. This has been coming for a while but it's still a shame.

He wrote one of my favorite songs, "Her Father Didn't Like Me Anyway." The Humblebums version of it isn't my favorite but it's been a staple of Irish singers for decades now and I've heard dozens of versions of it.

This is such a beautiful song.

  • wow. i was just blasting right down the line on new years day while cleaning house. this bums me out, he was a favorite of the nice price artists i love. once i was dj-ing a wedding and i played baker street and none other than jack black slid right up to the dj booth and gave a very enthusiastic thumbs up to the selection and proceeded to twirl around the dance floor joyfully. i always think of that when i hear that song now. i love it. RIP.

Me too. This song makes me think of my childhood. My dad RIP used to kill this song. It's been in my head all day.

    RIP Gerry
