Dude, you would love the Frank Popp Ensemble. He's right up your alley.

Have seen Frank Popp ensemble live two weeks ago:

    1) dirty HIPPIE chicks dancing to their music barefooted (Hello Frank?!)
    2) old square looking folks smoking weed and spilling beer all over while modern dancing
    3) Frank Popp being onstage playing a silent plastic organ and dancing to his bands music or playing the tambourine (yikes!)
    4) the drummer sucked - didn't play well, plus his drums don't sound funky at all!
    5) the singinger behaves like a soul-diva, but she can't really sing or move
    6) the organ and Rhodes player was cool, but his organ was tuned badly. Some major off-key sounds
    7) the band seems to be a caricature of a 60s mod band

    I was sonned, but acting

    I kinda liked it

But I'm a fan of what Fourtet is doing, and can understand how he might not be everybody's cup o ramen.

Sample based music dizzy? You should check out Maker's new album. He's a cool dude that makes cool music.

yo what's up with that caribou? does he/she/they got woodsy beatz?

  • details
    good?

both are good but caribou's lp is better in my opinion.

fans of lo-fi-instrumental-psych-with-heavy-drums-and-ocassional-vocals would approve of caribou. probably my favorite record of this year. i only wish it were a little longer.

Yeah, his song on that split 7" with Meaty is one of my recent favorites!
We need to get that lp in stock.

Isn't GO! TEAM is 100% live? I'm pretty sure it just sounds sampley. But an awesome band, and phenominal live act . Brown plastic recorder solo? CHECK Black lead singer with grimey english accent busting rhymes and shaking booty? CHECK Very cute and petite drummer who can actually bang some mean skins? CHECK

    Ive got that video haha

I like the Four Tet, Caribou, Go! Team, Bonobo, and Daedelus albums quite a bit. Also been feeling these even if its already been done/are stretching the line of sample based:

    2tall - Shifting Tides

    Dimlite - Runbox Weathers

Adventure Time - Dreams of Water Themes

    Eliot Lipp = s/t

No, I (or more correct, one of my journalists) did an interview with Ian Parton a few weeks back, and talked a lot about this. It's a lot of sampling, and they have problems releasing the album in the US because of this. Right now he's working on a new album and an alternative version of Thunder, Lightning, Strike that they can release in USA.

OH LORD. I thought I had posted that for a second.

    Another Dizzy??????????

    p.s. Belson,

Rubberfunk is my dude. I can't say that I "know him", but kinda through the Soundly Beaten shit I guess.

Did that make any sense at all?
