It's unbelievable how little some of the dudes in porn are paid. I know they're getting to bang chicks and all, but it takes a lot of talent to be a porn star. Your average dude cannot keep it up indefinitely with a gang of people watching and then splooge on demand. I guess $400 a scene isn't too bad if you're doing like 5 scenes a week. But considering the billions that are generated from the porn industry, I'd just think that the performers would make more than that. At least the superstars should be making millions (without producing and directing their own flicks, which is how many of the performers really end up making some loot out of the biz). Lex said he makes over 100k in the business and he knows of a few other guys that do but that is very rare for men. They can parley their porn careers into other things like tv shows or personal appearences because they are at the top. The fact is most people dont buy the movies for the guys so all the male actors with exception of 1 or 2 are replaceable.

I think it helps that it's a fairly unregulated industry. So the shop owners make the rules. Thankfully they've made some effort to self regulate because of AIDS, but I don't that changes the money game that much. While it does take a little work on the part of the men, I think as stated they are pretty disposable. I'm sure you can pretty much just go out on the street and find guys willing to do a scene for cheap. Plus, the couple I've seen the guys are UGLY!!!!! One of the reasons I can live with out it.
Think of it's like a lot of record stores. A number of stores are making bank and the owner drives a Lexus while the clerks are lucky to make $8 an hour. I'm talking about the better shops that expect their people to have a high degree of knowledge. Plus, when the clerk buys some collection for pennies that ends up having some rare e-bay jem it's not like the owner does any profit shareing.
Or as they say, be the pimp and not the ho. If you can be both, even better.
