what a nail biter
was drinking a pint of scottish ale at the beerun in c-ville
everyone on the edge of their seats till the not so bitter end
place went nutz
now home for a proper smoke & mad channel switching
can ghana & australia advance
(& the us play oz next ?)
that's the result i'd like !!
amazing that Germany could very likely be out if they only tie...after the Aus. game they looked to easily be the best team in S. Africa.
if you're Ghana/Germany/Serbia you're obviously going for 1st place, but I wonder who they'd actually prefer to play, England or US?
i think it's amazing that two brothers are against each other for Germany & Ghana - the Boateng brothers.
On the evidence of today, I'd rather face England. The squad is still finding it's feet, while I get the feeling watching USA that everybody knows what they're supposed to do, and they look more cohesive.
As an England fan, Serbia would be the kind of team I think we'd get a result against.
Germany had a player through on goal, but the Ghana keeper saved brilliantly, and from a header Lahm stopped the ball on the line. With his arm! But the ref missed it - Harry Kewell must be livid.
Now you've switched over it'll probably finish 0-0 though :-P
Good to see Bill Clinton at the game today, looking totally dumbfounded but certainly understanding the depth of feeling that went into that final celebration.
And definitely the Brit contingent here are delighted for USA to get through. It matters not who we both face, Ghana and Germany present about equal but different threats if they get through.
Probably Germany would least like to face England, and I could see Germany doing the clinical, cynical Euroman pro number on USA in the next round.
By the end of this, all you dudes somewhat new to the WC and soccerball in general will have an appreciation of the caprices of the soccer gods, and in particular the delicious bittersweet tang that comes with being harshly treated by a ref's error. You can live off that shit for years.
Watched it in a bar near to work owned by Simon Jordan.
He was there, in a lairy pink shirt, looking slightly less orange than usual, sunglasses on his head (Indoors!) clearing plates and glasses. Definately added a surreal air to things.
Nice to see us play like a team with a bit of spirit. Terry half man / half seal impression the highlight. Milner couldn't get past the ball past the first man until the cross for the goal.

i read this and changed channels from the Aus Ser game, the pace in this one is twice as fast, Aus Ser was boring.

They didn't show much class in the game either. Those asshats deserved to go home.
