    Very true, Lennon or Walcott should have a big impact there. The USA de-fense looks pretty ropey.

    To be honest, I'm more used to this happening than not having spread our influence widely and then watched as each nation took our national sports and got better than us.

    However, in this instance, no, I'm afraid your team aren't really up to it.

    B/w As neil mentions, it's only England that are playing. The other countries in Britain, sadly, weren't decent enough at football to qualify.

    There has to be a few Argies of Welsh descent who could help bolster the team? Prestatyn Patagonian ish. Perhaps a few English lads with a dodgy granny and no hope of playing for In-ger-lund could hold their noses and cross Offa's Dyke now and then to help the cause?
    Maybe some unrecognised young talent at Newi Cefn Druids or languishing in the Airbus reserves?

    It's a long shot, but blimey you can't go on getting trounced two to nothing at home to geezers who spend 6 months in permanent darkness and eat piss-pickled reindeer meat.

    I think Wales should apply to join the Oceania Football Confederation. If New Zealand can qualify from that group we should have no problem. Plus away matches in Tahiti or Fiji would be a bonus.

    As for rugby, they may be concentrating on it but they're still not that good. The Magner's League is probably the equivalent of second or third division rugby.

    Goalkeeper and midfield are strongest points for the US.

    Probably you all percieve the midfield to be stronger than it actually warrants, tbh.
    Donovan and Demspey are decent players, but not top-tier.
    The defence looks mad suspect and the attack is unproven.

    Top advantage? Energy levels / stamina / general conditioning.
    Overachieved in 2002, under achieved in 2006. minimum satisfactory outcome for them is to 'emerge from the group phase'.

    At least according to TalkSport radio this morning.
