Top 2-sided hip-hop 12"s

This came to mind while writing a short thing about Gang Starr's "Just to Get a Rep" b/w "Who's Gonna Take the Weight" but what would be some of your all-time greatest hip-hop singles based on the strength of BOTH sides. The main rule is that both sides have to be heat and recognized as such. Remixes of A-side songs don't count. Has to be a separate B-side song. So, for example, besides that Gang Starr single, you could make the case for Biggie: Juicy b/w Unbelievable.Discuss.

Also, "After the Laughter" b/w "Protect ya neck" or "Protect ya neck" b/w "Method Man" depending on when you got turned on to the Wu.

Another classic Gang Starr 12" with a classic b-side
Gang Starr - Suckas Need Bodyguards / The ? Remainz

this one's interesting cause the ? remainz isn't featured on a regular album of Gang Starr.

you can basically take every 12" from a so called "classic" album and the b-side is normally dope too.

I just thought of Diamond D - Sallys Got A One Track Mind - Check One Two even though i have to say the showbiz remix is actually doper than the actual b-side!

  • eric b is pres / my melody = GOAT

I thought of this record, but the two classic tracks on there are accompanied by "Suckas Need Bodyguards" that to me, is not so classic.

obviously "Cali" has not aged well (at all!!) but at the time Goin' Back to Cali/Jack the Ripper was a pretty sick double-sider. Obviously "Jack the Ripper" was getting most of the play back then anyway - that track still pretty much kills it.

off the beaten path is the EdOg "love comes and goes" 12 and Kurious "i'm kurious" cause of the good main track, the great remix and the greatest bside "mansion and a yacht"

I got a Raekwon promo with "Can it all be so simple" b/w "Glaciers of ice". Oh and we can't forget "Ice Cream" b/w "Incarcerated Scarfaces".

While those are good songs, the love comes and goes 12" blows cause it has no instrumental on it, which that beat is too good not have.

for me, i would agree that eric b is prez / my melody is GOAT, but run dmc's it's like that / sucker mc's changed music. REVOLUTIONARY. although technically both songs are on the same side of the 12" so i dunno if it counts or not

Honestly, all their singles from that era were pretty much double A sides, IMO. All the way up to "Tougher than Leather" album. ALL THAT SH*T was FIRE!!!
