    cosign on Mass Appeal. It's like the peak of their work, also when you look at the stream of albums...most hypnotic epic work. But to really choose is actually impossible....

    me too - Mass Appeal. One of the best beats in hip hop, IMO. The way those kicks sound just a little shaved down and hit in that swing --- that sample --- the whole thing was just too much. Magnum opus, IMO.

    Love this tune.

    Also a big fan of "Hardcore Composer" and "Tha ? Remains" (and about eleventy billion other tracks...fu[/b]ck, Gang Starr put out a lot of amazing music).

    I dont see where his skill in doing this separates him from various other MC who are successful at doin this as well.

    One thing that always stood out for me w/ Guru was that he was always balanced.
    Never Too preachy and always kept some street shit to balance the knowledge.

    There are many great songs that could REP Gangstarr, but Who's Gonna Take The Weight is a real clear example of both dudes skill. Along w/ the "balanced" steez Guru had.

    I think mass appeal is the definitive gang starr track. But I think Just To Get A Rep is the definitive GURU as a rapper track.

    No need for explanation. Every Gangstarr song is someones favorite. That's what's so ill about them, a massive catalog of classics!
