  • found this real old-school place on commercial drive in vancouver, bc and its got to be one of the best kept secrets in town. run for the last 50 odd years by the same hungarian family who were all in the back chopping up meat. they smoke and cure a bunch of different kinds of meat-no preservatives or crap ingredients.

    in fact, this thread has inspired me to take another trip out there...

    Catalonia has sausage heat. Check Llonganissa, Bull, Butifarra, Fuet and the all-spanish extra hot Chorizo.

    But you can't go wrong with a good Thuringia Butchershop too:




    My favorite is a aircured, hard Thuringia Knackwurst with garlic and caraway seeds.

    That's a bavarian sausage speciality called "Wei??wurscht mit Brezn und Weizn".
    One of the reasons I don't want to leave Bavaria.



    Actually Wei??wurst does mean something like albino sausage.

    It's delicious and actually eaten for breakfast. The true bavarian doesn't touch it after 12 a.m. The combination of white sausage, sweet mustard, pretzel and wheat beer is obligatory. To exclude any of these elements from the "Weisswurschtfr??hst??ck" means ruining it. Although two Weissbier in the morning can be really devastating.

    tried a cheese kranzky for the 1st time last week......yum!!
    we actually have a bottled brand of sausage sauce called "Sausage Tonight". It is the sibling of "Chicken Tonight", whose theme song is "I feel like Chicken Tonight, Like Chicken Tonight"! So clearly, it becomes "I feel like Sausage Tonight, Like Sausage Tonight".......they haven't made the add yet!! But if they did.....if they did...
