and you can't quarrel with a classic......this smokey has a pretty love lament track on it. "baby, baby don't cry"
Vida E Inspiracion S/T on Decca (sealed) and The Louis Hayes Group "Variety Is The Spice" on Gryphon. I'll probably up the Vida to Real Headz soon
I just found "Telecommunication" too, I like that album!
Those are definitely the standout cuts. I don't hate the rest of it, but I'm not wild about it, either.
mailbox finds: thanks to shooterali for the Kendricks. The Gills Singers is great, settled for a reish of Gyp Fox. Modality Stew shreds..
The 12" in that pic is Dunn Pearson "Groove On Down". That Zap Pow LP is a 70s original on Wham-Pac (90s repros abound, with a green cover instead of blue) and features the Lee Perry-helmed "River" as well as a few funky numbers. Looks cheesy but is pretty dope and tough to turn up.
Some thorough roots business, "Free For All" is tough as nails, one of the toughest on Wackies - the dub of Little Roy's "Tribal War" album. I've never had the Juks Incorporation albums.
There was tons of odd shit in the collection - like some ill random Philly rap not pictured here - but an early UK Fleetwood Mac LP was definitely a surprise. Had to pry Tom Brock from the hands of my friend (essential heads know the transaction).
Chuffed
I haven't been doing much of any digging down here (I got my priorities in order!), still haven't hit up the flea market even. I did find a mint Clifton Dyson 12-inch for $2 the other day which was kind of absurd.
"so i stood on my head, but i wont forget what yoda said!"

YES!
The reggae is ridiculously tough to pull out here, and I was pleasantly surprised to come across the Undertaker LP at a local Goodwill. Was it a response to Harry J's album The Liquidator?
Everything was nabbed for $2 a piece:
What f*cking Goodwill?!?!? That is ridiculous. I hit every East Bay Goodwill nearly on a daily basis and haven't found shit in months upon months upon months. I actually am about to throw in the towel.
2nd. Mt Vernon got records. Found my Skull Snaps and many a rap collection there.
What Philly rap u found there? You seem to be filling up on that shit as of late
Oh, F*ck. Palo Alto is too far! I thought you meant East Bay. The city / south of the city is I've done all day trips and come home with nothing, but an empty gas tank.
That Robert Chatman Holy Ghost Trip is reeeeeaal nice. great find.
The Undertaker is the truth, I paid a lot more that $2 for my copy.
Nice work.
It's been a good week for records.
The real world has been coming up, now if those packages from Brazil
would just show up!
It's been exciting getting back into stuff other than reggae, having a monthly DJ
gig has helped me emerge from my "reggie rut".
My ears are open and I'm stoked.
its been ok, hit a thrift yesterday and pulled a few minty OG's for next to nothing, pretty cool..
yeah same here, never picked this up before, heard a couple rca's and the muse record elephants memory band something (not sure if its the same band) anyway, i figure this might be a bit raer'er than the other stuff, its on apple recs produced by john lenon and yoko ono, lemme get back when ive listened to the whole thing..
