Since when can you not convert AIFFs to MP3s? This new version sucks. Or am I missing something? It used to be in the Preferences.

    if your are on a mac the only program you need to convert audio is called Max and can be downloaded for free here:

    http://sbooth.org/Max/

    this is still possible to do in iTunes, you need to change your default import settings.

    Found it. Thanks! This was a lot easier to find in the earlier version.
