    Is anybody here actually Irish?
    Irish parents?
    Ever lived there?
    Ever visited even?

My paternal grandparents are from Mullingar

I have some relations there - one is a nun. Her name is Sister Concepta Immaculata.

    You must deal.

I'm 1/8th Irish, and I've been to Dublin and Rosslare.

Girlfriend is half. Parents are Catholic & Prod, and live in Belfast. She is determined to have a decent Paddy's Day, but there isn't much fuss about it in Oxford as the Irish community upped sticks when the car plant (Austin Rover/Leyland) konked it in the 80s. Eid/Ramadan gets more props here. I guess she gets annoyed knowing that although Oxford is only 45 minutes away by plane from the free state, if you fly for 12 hours across the Atlantic, everybody seems to be Irish. At least that was her experience in NY.

There are more people of Irish descent on the East Coast of the US than there are in Ireland.

And definitely more than there are in Oxford, England! I like Guinness, prefer Scotch, and look terrible in green, but for my girl I'll be drinking tonight, and be green tomorrow.

    Slainte!

Marched in the parade yesterday and then put it down hard on the upper east side. One of my favorite days of the year!!
