I've had good and bad luck with these in terms of d/l movies. Where does the strut go to get it's movies from in 2009?

Cinematik.net, hands down. Only DVDs, though, and very little mainstream stuff.

    Demonoid

  • most of the downloads from Axxo should be fine. Just torrent search that name and you'll get a ton of results.

Also this has been down for a good year but just checked it randomly and it seems back in business:

    http://tracker.zaerc.com/

The ultimate site for obscure movies which has the best list of forgotten horror films I've ever seen and since 99% of them are VHS rips impossible to get IRL you don't have to feel guilty either.

There used to be a really good torrent search engine you could add to your MyGoogle. But Rapidshare is so much better than torrents for movies, I don't use it/them much anymore.

I'd forgotten about that place, they have some truly bizarre stuff.

Yeah hit and miss doesn't begin to describe it. The search engine is useless but if you're willing to put the effort in there's all kinds of hidden gems in there or at least there used to be anyway. Without it I don't know whether I would ever have experienced the delights of films like Spider Baby or hundreds of cheap and cheerful slasher movies. Some of the stuff on there is enough to make you question humanity though.

I knew a dude once who was a real collector of that kind of stuff. Strange guy, really friendly though. but I never really felt I could trust him knowing he was such a fan of these really deviant movies.
I know record nerds shouldn't point fingers at other nerdy collectros but damn, you can bring a stranger/friend/girl into your home and a record collection is a interesting talking point. Even the Otaku doll thing could be explained away with a little swagger. But an extensive collection of giallo/horror/slasher/porn is enough to have you checking for the nearest exits.
