They represent the days of way back when.

They explore new horizons within the boundaries of their own style.

They dig melodic loops that sound different to the norm.

    They are all about sampling.

    They like digging.

They do what they do and that's aight[/b].

    And thats what I dig.

If you dont feel it, listen for the advice when PUTS bring the wiseguys in on the last cut of The Next Step LP.

No, you either have to love them or your whole taste in music is suspect!

If only all of the hatters could meet PUTS, I'm sure they could be convinced to love their music.

Why is it not "aight" for other people to do what they do if what they do consists of not listening to PUTS?

I hereby doth proclaim on this, the 25th of July, in the year of our Lord 2005 that People Under The Stairs aka PUTS are neither amazing nor horrible, but merely AIGHT.

now you need to stop messing around and BE A MAN

You better watch yourself Anna. Talk like that might get you dissed on their next LP:

    "The Outrage Pt. 2":

"I got beef with this girl named Anna,
try to diss the People/she can swallow the banana,
saying we a'ight is like saying we're wack,
don't hate on the two just because we're bringing '93 back."

Oh shit, I forgot about their penchant for lyrical retalliation. Shit.

How can you not like PUTS?They called O DUB-"Oliver Mark Ass Twang".I got much mileage off that little ditty with my man O.

  • PUTS are boring to me, but i think it's cool to have people in here defending them like they are ..

i mean, at least they haven't all turned into faggit ass bloggers acting like they've been down with the south for years and years and years

What song is this on? I don't have any of their shit. How many times has Oliver been dissed now?

They represent the days of way back when.

Jurassic 5 - the Sha-Na-Na of that harmony group-based interplay as popularized by the Cold Crush Brothers (Chase, Caz et al)...

People Under the Stairs - the Sha-Na-Na of that '93 sound...

That's how some folks see it - no comment here though...

I'm kind of in the kingmost area of PUTS appreciation. I enjoyed OST quite a bit, and still do from time to time. I didn't buy the last album.

The way I see it is, I like the Beats and Double K's flow, but the few times I've seen them live, Thes one needed help in the MCing department. It's not as bad on tape, but it ain't always "aight." I still consider myself a supporter, and will always check in on what they're working on.

WHAT I REALLY WANT TO KNOW IS... what types of digging ethics or incidents by PUTS are suspect? I want to hear a story.

Four times on separate songs though two of those were by my main girl, Jean Grae. This has to set a record, though a rather dubious one, for certain.

And it's on a song by PUTS called "The Outrage."

Okay, I've been rocking PUTS in my headphones on the bus to work today and I'm hereby proclaiming without a shadow of a doubt in my mind, that PUTS have consistently dropped credible steez that can stand impressively with some of the best hip hop of its day.

There are five factors (I can think of at this moment in time) in the tracks I rocked that have contributed to, influenced and inspired said proclaimation above.

Original ideas for rhyme composition (43 Labels I Like)

Use of creative rhyme scheme (Time To Rock Our Shit)

Eclectic musical sources (Mid City Fiesta)

Repping for digging in the crates (The Dig)

Repping for the old school (Hang Loose)

Dedication to what they believe in (Stay Home)

Its there to take it or leave it, and thats aight.

I'm saying I'm digging that shit forevaaaaa.

If those six are criteria for a good rap album, I don't want to listen to rap anymore.

This dude doesn't seem like he'd be sufficiently rewarding to antagonize, mostly because he doesn't react to--or even seem to hear--what you're saying... he just continues to reel off reasons why PUTS is GOAT.
