I bought the Fruit Tree box around 1996 (although I had the Island Bumpers comp feat. Hazey Jane a few years before that but strangely it didn't standout) and I only heard Smith when XO came out...1998? Personally Drake has never reminded me of Smith musically, as much as I like them both.
