Sorry to start another product recommendation thread, but I'm looking to get a little USB audio interface for a sibling for christmas for about $100. Just one of those little two-channel joints. b, 21b, 21It'll be mainly for guitar and vocal-type into a laptop. b, 21b, 21I have an M-audio joint that's been fairly good to me, but it's too pricey and I don't think it has XLR inputs. if it does I've never used them. b, 21b, 21b, 21Any of you dudes have a good, cheap recording solution?

It was one of the few USB interfaces I could find that had an XLR input and I budgeted for around $100ish.

Just thought I'd throw out a good word for the a href="http://pro-audio.musiciansfriend.com/product/Tascam-US122L-USB2.0-Audio-Midi-Computer-Interface?sku=242192&src=3WWRWXO1&ZYXSEM=0"1Tascam US-122l/a1 (they can be had for less than $100).b, 21b, 21img src="http://www.portlandmusiccompany.com/us122l_pics/US-122L.jpg" 21b, 21b, 21I use it's predecessor (US-122) for recording vinyl and for doing simple 2 mic reference recordings of my band. I get good results for both. They're pretty solid and come with Cubase (as I'm sure most interfaces do).

font class="post"1b, 21b, 21I have the Lexicon Omega (4 in - 4 out). The build is so so. Pots are kinda noisy and the onboard mic pres are meh, but at the price range what can you do? The reverb VST it ships with is alright; but most reverb VSTs sound the same to me. For $100, I'd side with an M-Audio product because of ProTools compatibility.

hmmm. I was looking at musicians friend and reading reviews and mad dudes were like "This m-audio thing is ass. get a Lexicon instead." The pro tools compatibility might come into play in the future. at the price range, everything is going to be subpar, regardless of company. My Omega works fine with Audacity with the WDM drivers (Audacity doesn't support ASIO officially).b, 21b, 21Whatever you get, consider getting a cheap mic pre (ART, Presonus) as well. It's cheap and it'll be better than any onboard mic preamps on a entry level interface. I go line-in on all inputs.
