a la Shapeshifters "Lola's Theme", various Daft Punk, Modjo etc etcb, 21b, 21Was the earliest prototype of this really Wham's 'Club Tropicana'? b, 21b, 21It's all about the heavily compressed gated bass drum and bass, then the tinny treble comes in, then (club door opens) and BLAM the track starts pumping full on.b, 21b, 21Can anyone provide a more technical analysis of how this is done? I want to try it on some rock-ish home recordings soon.b, 21b, 21I especially like it when they drop the treble in the middle of a song, it's a realistic recreation of those moments in the club when you nip out for a piss.b, 21Or some other activity.

    The 'Tongue' ost gets semi-ruined for me with the background party ambience going on. Project Soul Ebony is another, rarer funk example similarly flawed.b, 21b, 21The newer (late 90s onwards Euroman disco) tracks eschew the real world detritus noises and focus on creating the sensation of rocking up to the club and getting nearer the music.b, 21b, 21I likes the stylistic device even if the ensuing tracks are often/usually turdly.

    Oh, and "Cow Cud Is A Twin" from Aphex Twin's "I Care Because You Do" has one of those intros... it's like a friend calling round his house and the music is playing out of little tape player, friend leaves house, slams door shut, and BLAM super-squelchy underwater-reggae track starts.
