record store clerk insisted on playing hieroglyphics album sides while i was inthe store. the one where they sample the whole Hampton hawes song. beats were generally good. the lyrics/rhymes/voices were unbearable. whiny, shrill and hollow.b, 21b, 21ok my thread of hate is over. i liked their first album. what happened?

I hear you on the squeaky vox thing. I do like some cuts off that LP, but it's mostly the ones that don't feature the squeaky Hiero fraction. Like "No Nuts" with Del and Pep Love:b, 21param name="movie" value=""1param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"1param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"1embed src="" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"1/embed1/object1

I feel you on that. I do agree some of the tracks on that lp where dookie..But for the most part,it was....ehhh.b, 21b, 21I converted this awhile back. All the Hireo Oldies stuff I had on Tape. Some tracks back then, I was really to happy to have 4th to 5th generation copies of some of the those songs.I was happy to get a hard copy of it (coverless with a tracklist on a piece of 8 1/2 x 11 sheet(still have it) and before they produced an equally generic black and white cover for it. Anyways, here it is as a whole (86min. 24 sec.)b, 21b, 21Enjoy and even though I know it's a hate thread, most of the stuff on this tape was(and still is pretty fresh) and produced before that 3rd eye vision lp.b, 21b, 21Hiero Oldies Vol #1b, 21param name="movie" value="http://www.divshare.com/flash/playlist?myId=5796189-ff1" 21embed src="http://www.divshare.com/flash/playlist?myId=5796189-ff1" width="325" height="28" name="divmp3" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer"1/embed1/object1b, 211)Cab Fare (95 Remix)b, 212)Me-O-Mi-O (Domino Remix)b, 213)Neighborhoodb, 214)Let It Rideb, 215)Can I Kill'em?b, 216)Souls Of Mischiefb, 217)Where They At?b, 218)Crazy Del Song w/ Beyond the Cloak of Darknessb, 219)Weak Shitb, 2110)Can U Feel It?b, 2111)It Get's No Betterb, 2112)Our Secretb, 2113)Untitled Del Songb, 2114)Souls Of Mischief On WKCR,NY(STretch & Bobbito Show) 92'b, 2115)Captain Americab, 2116)Batting Practice(Orig. Went to my crib and recorded the whole battle.b, 21b, 21Hiero had some parts, but for the most part, got served quick. It was mainly Pep Love, Saafir and Mike G that killed it.b, 21b, 21Hope that was the song, If not.I will look through my tapes again.Been transerfing allot of stuff lately.

  • even del , man. they just seem to pick the wrong words to end each line in. does that make sense? they all make acceptably clever lyrics, but the cadence of the words that they rhyme is really gay. they sound like my drunk white friends when they are whilin and freestylin.b, 21b, 21also they should stick to writing about dropping acid and girls. there was some song about "dont comeout at night cause shit gets crazy wild" and it just sounds kind of fruitus loopus.b, 21b, 21i really want to like all of them, too. thats maybe why i am so dissapointed.b, 21b, 21saafir ended all their careers. he was the only with a dope voice anyway

  • casual had a great voice and loved his flow. b, 21dels eye examintation is top notch in my book. lines on that are crazy.b, 21b, 21it was always opio i hated.

Me and the homie I used to do my radio show with had an ongoing joke that every Hiero song that was any good to begin with went downhill the minute Opio got on the mic.b, 21b, 21When I was in high school freestyling in the East Bay pretty much meant trying to sound like Hiero, which was NAGL. Still, to this day, any one of those cats can put on a show in Santa Cruz and pack the same venue where Rakim draws a 1/3rd full room.b, 21b, 21They probably attracted thousands of fans just on the strength of their "Third Eye Vision" logo.
